I wonder if the SNP will return the millions of pounds in donations to distance themselves from Gloag and Souter

Why should they? She’s not been found guilty of anything?

If she is should the charities who benefited return donations too?

I agree about the guilt. But political parties aren't the same as charities. If found guilty they shouldn't send back money to such a criminal but they should disassociate.

The snp should never have associated or accepted money with Souter after section 28, horrible man. A real bad stain on the snp especially after the deregulation that followed. I'd put that down to Alex Salmonds SNP though, as the backing has went to a trickle since Sturgeon took power. She doesn't seem to align with his politics in any way bar independence

Not everything on this board needs to turn into a political debate, it gets boring

Think this board is about 90% political, I think it's proving very popular to most as its very active recently

It just gets a bit boring but each to their own I suppose

As it is there is just no reason to believe this is a political issue.

I can't stand the SNP but I don't see why they have any reason to be dragged into this. Unless it comes out they were aware that these charges were pending and continued to accept donations (I know innocent until proven guilty but a pause whilst the investigation was going on would be wise). I don't believe that is the case though so they really have no case to answer.

I also think anyone dragging politics into issues like this is playing a dangerous game. Every major party has had and will continue to have unsavoury character align themselves to them. It's the same as the point scoring over child abuse allegations in football; you'd have to be extremely confident or foolish to get too critical of other teams, almost all teams will have some accusation to answer at some point.

Did she ever donate to the SNP or was it just Souttar?

FWIIW I don't think he's donated for years.

I don't think anyone would ever connect her allegations with the snp, that's mental there is no connection. Obviously if guilty they would stop all association. Who knows if it's true there is no information there.

The murky disgusting link is to her and her brothers company and Alex Salmonds snp. A horrible bigot of a man. They ignored it and accepted millions, also deregulated the sector shortly after.

All parties are the same labour and tories go cap in hand to oligarchs and despots constantly. The political class won't change in my lifetime I'm sure

It might have been the other way about. I think he stopped after Salmond resigned.

The buses were deregulated long before the SNP were in power, before even devolution.

Sorry. The snp put in there manifesto they would re-regulate the busses. Snp accepted a 500,000 donation which was criticised by some LGBT charities. A few months later they said they were dropping the pledge to re-regulate
