Sorry for starting a non football thread but thought our fellow Hibby Andy Murray deserved a wee mention on here.
What he did last night at 35 years of age with a metal hip, advised to give up pro tennis, two sets down and coming back to win a game that lasted five hours and didn't finish until 4am was nothing short of remarkable. Not going to lie it almost had me in tears. Sheer grit and determination. Take a bow Andy, that was spectacular.
Just shows what can be achieved against the odds in sport if your attitude and desire to win is there. Take note Hibs.

Could've done without the jibe at Hibs really.
The difference is, Andy has world class tennis playing ability. Hibs aren't lacking in grid and determination, it's quality.
Did we lack grid and determination when we were scoring all those late goals?

Couldn't have put it any better.
Thought what he was wearing would make a great away strip.

Wasn't a jibe at Hibs at all. It was a post about what can be achieved in sport when all odds are against you.

Coming after 5 sets with Berrettini too… Absolutely remarkable.
He wasn’t at his best but had the grit and experience to drag his opponent out into the deep, dark water where he has been so many times before.

Just an incredible role model for any sportsperson.

He's one of the greatest athletes to ever walk the Earth in my opinion. What he done yesterday, it shouldn't have been possible. Through sheer determination, sacrafice, and a life entirely devoted to being the best, he achieved one of his (if not THE) best victory of his career. He's unbelievable.
Like a lot of folk on here no doubt, I've tried most sports throughout the years, and I will always maintain that Tennis is up there as one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports you could ever hope to participate in. I managed an hour and a bit once in good conditions (cool and breezy, perfect!) and I felt like I was dying at the end of it. That was when I was very early 20's and in great condition, to see him at 35 and with a metal hip playing at that level for almost 6 hours, I can't get my head around that.
The man is fantastic, a true role model and someone a lot of young sports people should be looking at as an example of mental fortitude, hard work and dedication
Its great that we have 2 fans who are exceptional in their sporting field in Murray and Stuart Hogg

The most technical sport to. So many shots and way to play each ball plus the tactical element. You are involved a 100% of the time. Imagine if a footballer had to play 11 hours in three days.

It reads like a great tribute to a Scottish sporting legend with a suggestion at the end that Hibs don't have the attitude and desire to win.

I think recently attitude has been a problem in derbies, we’ve had long-serving players describe it as “just another game” whilst we’ve generally been slow out the traps and not showing anything like the urgency or intensity required until we’re a goal or 2 down.

Can't say I've heard any of them say that but I would agree that at times our attitude hasn't been as good as it should, not just in derbies. I'd say confidence is a big factor. Hopefully with Nisbet banging in the goals we'll turn around our season. Sunday is a great opportunity to kick-start it.
Wasn't disagreeing with the poster, was just pointing out the effect adding "Take note Hibs" had on the message of the post.

Where does he find it from? Still can’t see anything other than him losing here but even to win that set was some achievement.
Legend.

He just drags younger fitter opponent down until they feel like a 35 yr. Old has been and gives them a good shoing in the 5th...hopefuly

Hibs need to make Sir Andy an honorary president of the club or something when he finally hangs up the racquet. Incredible sportsman.

He’s lost that but what a competitor.
Running about playing with a metal hip ffs. Some of the rallies in that match were incredible. Proper athletes those guys and absolutely nowhere to hide when they’re out there.

Yeah. I'd say that a high level game of men's singles grand slam tennis is just about the pinnacle of individual sports.

:agree: It's my favourite thing to watch.
I'll always love Hibs and would watch a Hibs match over anything else but if Murray was still on I'd still be at home watching.
Now that he's finished I've gone out despite two football matches now being on which tells you everything.
