It is very similar to last year so far, we're actually 3 points and one place worse off now than we were at the same stage last season.

The main difference this season could be the form of Kevin Nisbet. A goalscorer can make a huge difference in this league and we obviously lost him to injury for the last few months of last season which, coupled with the sale of Martin Boyle, was pretty tough to deal with.

I'm still sceptical about us making the top six this season but if we can get a win v Aberdeen in our next league game we should really start to think about top 4 and a European place.

A sign of lowering expectations that top 6 is some sort of achievement. We are closer to the bottom than we are our rival! I would imagine Aberdeen will act now, punt the manager and they will get a lift from it.

Nisbet is huge for us, people will say he’s keeping Johnson in a job etc but on the other hand where would we be if he was fit for us all season?

As it stands were 2 points off 5th, 4 points off 4th and eleven points off third. Is it unreasonable to suggest that Nisbet being fit would have helped us get an extra 4-6 points and put us in 4th? I wouldn’t say so.

Where would hearts be if they never had Shankland?

Aberdeen lost their centre half and captain last night and got pumped 5-0

Whilst we’re undoubtedly needing quality added to the squad, it’s the injuries to our key players and match winners that’s been the main difference.

Appreciate it’s all if buts and maybes but our luck, or lack of it, over the last year has been brutal.

It'll need more than a couple of signings. Those signings will also need to be made by someone with a better eye for a player than those who have brought in the dross the past few windows. And we'll probably need a manager that's not a complete buffoon as well.

But get all that done and top 4 is a possibility.

We were awful on Saturday yes. We got a point out of it though. We weren't awful the week before when we beat Motherwell. Or when we scudded Livi 4-0. I've seen far, far worse Hibs sides including last seasons one.

I would suggest that NOBODY on here thinks Top 6 is any sort of achievement however, in order to stand any chance of top 4 and European football (top 5 may do it), we need to be in the Top 6 come the split. Especially in a season like this, it has to be our goal. Then we set a new goal for the run in.
