Any idea contract situations of the likes of Josh O'connor and Ethan Laidlaw.

Just wondering with Melkerson away will one of these two make a charge for a regular squad place

I doubt we will see them tbh. They can probably get filed in the same category as melkerson as needing to go elsewhere to develop, ready for the first team.

The coaching staff will promote them when they consider them ready.
We may start to see a few of them once they get their European game against Dortmund out of the way.

Considering how poor we have been it’s pretty criminal they haven’t had a chance

I’ve not seen them play, but that’s what makes me think they’re still quite a bit behind even guys like Tavares

Ethan Laidlaw is close imo.

He's always been talented but he's ready to kick on soon.

I think the fact that Conor Young is struggling for game time with Rangers B might stand us in good stead with Laidlaw and O'Connor. The grass isn't always greener.

An injury to any of of our “established” strikers and surely Laidlaw will at least see some action from the bench?

That’s unless we get another in?

We only have one established striker,as it stands with no incomings as of now you’d think Laidlaw will take Melkersens spot on the bench

You’d think a manager under pressure from the fans would bring 2 or 3 young lads into the match day squads, maybe even start 1 or 2.

the main squad aren’t pulling up any trees (nisbet aside), so it’s not like they’re bailing him out of trouble, having a couple of young players in the squad tends to give fans something to get behind and cheer rather than having a moan about tactics etc, and buys him some time to say he’s trying to bring the next generation through

and you never know, as seen with doig, porteous, Lewis, hanlon, Deek, GOC, et al, that just sometimes, young players come in and stay in the team through their good play

lets be honest, if McIntyre, megwa and laidlaw were in the squad on Sunday, who among us wouldn’t be desperate to see them do well
