I’ve never had one before. Can anyone tell me how quickly they get sent? I might be lucky and have missed it but I pulled into the buslane behind a bus that was waiting to turn right at Duddingston Crossroads. I couldn’t see the camera till the bus moved and would have been in the lane by the length of a car if your lucky before it finished but I’ve heard they’re really strict and don’t back down.
Has anyone got any experience of that particular set of lights?

Where you definitely in the lane in the hours the bus lane is active? I drive that way multiple times a week and often get irate looks and abuse from other drivers for using the bus lane outwith the active hours.
If it was during active times then they are very strict. I had a mate who was done at those very lights and half his car was in the lane if you are lucky, he appealed it but they wouldn't back down.

Depends what time of day it was, vast majority have no clue when bus lanes are operational.

It was definitely during the bus lane times, it was about 17:30. Just wasn’t thinking because I couldn’t see the camera because of the bus. Just need to wait and see if I get one. Don’t know how long they take.

I think that was where the wife got caught out !
It took about 3 weeks before the letter came through.
£60 or £30 if paid within a week or so
She had no idea she was in a bus lane for a short period

Road Traffic Act states that, 14 days of notice of intended prosecution is required. If a letter/fine arrives check the date it was sent.

That doesn't apply for bus lane fines.
It usually should be issued within 28 days, but can be longer if the council are having trouble finding your address.

I know you have 28 days to pay or appeal …but unless the Road Traffic Act has changed then the 14 day NIP surely applies as per speed cameras

Penalty Charge notices are 28 days, they are different to Notices of Intended Prosecution.

Yeah correct, I double checked, PCN’s are basically civil debts

Came this morning. Going by what others have said there’s no point even appealing it. So annoyed with myself, I’m usually so careful. The only reason I was even turning left at that junction was because of gas works on seafield road.

I suspect I'll be getting one. I drove to the Pure Gym at Gorgie Road one day last week after work (whichever day Hearts were playing at home) but the car park was full and I couldn't get a space on the street close by (probably due to the game) so I just about turned and drove home. I normally leave the gym after the bus lane times end and I must have been in auto-pilot mode in my head and drove in the bus lane on Stenhouse Drive up to the junction with Saughton Road at which point I realised that the bus lane was still in effect.
