What a professional, what a player.
His attitude it just outstanding and his ability is a 7/10 every week . Cabraja is another in a long list of left backs he has seen off . The ultimate professional who will be hoping MacIntyre can come and take his place, Lewis would help do so.
For the time being I'm more than happy he's our left back

I hope he finishes his career here so we can put him forward for the Athletic Bilbao one club man award. Would be a perfect end for the man.

Not forgetting that he helped Josh Doig through as well.
Brilliant professional and credit to himself and the club.

I know that he gets a lot of critics at times when we lose, but for me the guy should get another year contract with him hopefully being the back up left back to someone who will improve the squad.
Maybe he can then also transition into working with the younger lads like Daz is doing and help mentor someone like Oscar Macintyre with a view to replacing him as the number 2 left back when he's ready.

Lewis Stevenson is a player we can always depend on and is still playing well at 34 , brilliant player to have at our club .
A HIBS LEGEND :not worth.

Ridiculous to even suggest that he should be let go. Absolute model professional and more than capable back up and coach to the younger players.
Really hope we extend his contract and keep him beyond his playing days.

We’re lucky to have him.
If Johnson & Gordon let him leave this summer I don’t think I’ll ever forgive them :greengrin

Going by wiki hes on 443 games played, 3 more games and he will be joint most played in the history of our club alongside Arthur Duncan.
Quite an achievement for him if those stats are true.

That can't be right? Isn't Gordon Smith on 600-odd?

Wiki only lists league games, if you scroll down to the ‘career statistics’ bit it shows all games. 557 games.

Still got at least two more seasons as a genuine competitor for a start.
Don’t see LB being a priority position to be addressed even into next season, and happy to have an experienced pro in our team like Lewis for as long as he remains a dependable option.

He still has alot to offer, Fit, Good first touch, Neat on the ball and still has a good turn of pace.
An underrated footballer.

He's definitely hit 550. He did it this season and there was an interview about it.

I used to be a critic of Lewis but with the passage of time, there's so much to admire about the player and the person, he is a great example to others on how you can play the game at a decent level in a sporting manner, he's a very humble guy considering what he has achieved and arguably plays in what is not even his best position which I think is centre mid.

I'm not disagreeing with you but do you think he has the ability to play centre mid in a relatively struggling Hibs team?

Not many were superb under Maloney and I include Lewis in that. He was however easily our best player in the cup semi
last season.

Apologies, not now but perhaps in the past, I'm not saying he would be or was brilliant in midfield but I thought that was his original snd preferred position.

As well as all the obvious legend love that’s being passed around, he’s actually playing well, he’s there on merit. I would say he’s been more consistent than Porteous this season, been playing better than Hanlon Cadden and Cabraja too. He perhaps was slightly culpable for the last goal in the final minutes of a derby we’d already lost but I’m struggling to think of any other mistakes he’s made.

I couldn't get the angst from some going on and on about the derby as if it was the deciding factor in him being totally past it and a waste of a jersey (not really on here mind).
I feel he can still do a job and will be a very decent stand in if we were to sign a 'better' player, on top of that I get the impression he's well thought of as a leader/coach amongst the younger players.

Repeatedly gave the ball away under little to no pressure. Rinsed for both goals.
Yes, he needed help but he was making basic mistakes all game.
We currently have 0 fullbacks at the club who are good enough.
A ridiculous position to be in.

I love him, I genuinely do
But, the amount of times he gets the ball, looks up the line, dithers on it before turning back and playing it to a centre back is so frustrating.
Full backs are so important now a days especially when teams sit in, we need players there to either drive forward or pick out a pass.
I’d still have him as I think he offers alot, would do a job centre mid too if we’re struggling.

He does that because there's often no other option for him, no team mate making a move to help him out or to get into a decent space for him.
I'd put him in midfield next week with Newell out. He's the one that should have been in midfield if anyone, not Porteous.

The amount of crosses we allow into the box unchallenged is going to cost us until we get better defenders for the wide areas

Not often you see a poor performance from Stevenson. He’s been a great player for us but today he had a mare. It’s Hibs’ fault we are in the position.

Repeatedly gave the ball away through having absolutely nobody in a position to take the ball off him.
Lewis didn’t have a good game today but knowing what we know about Lewis, that’s more likely to be a symptom of the rest of the team being a shambles than Lewis not being good enough.

How bad is Cabraja that he can’t get in ahead of Lewis, who’s clearly toiling having to play so many games

Possibly Stevensons worst performance in a hibs shirt, By the end he was hiding from the ball and couldn’t wait to get off the pitch.
Praying we can move Cabraja on and try again to replace him but that’s very unlikely.

Stevenson like others had a nightmare.
There should be no new contract, possibly Gray and McGregors contracts are up as well.
Along with Hanlon they I believe are doing there coaching badges,
it’s time for all 4 to move on and get experience in coaching / management at other teams prove themselves and hopefully be back one day.
In the aftermath of the cup win I was all for contracts for life etc but it is now almost 7 years since that great day and looks like there could be yet another manager to loose his job.
It’s time for a clean slate throughout the club ,no matter what they along with others in that team will be legends .

He’s been an incredible servant to Hibs but other than his undoubted determination he offers nothing else playing left back now. He may be better deployed in a sitting midfielder role but other than that should be a squad filler at most. I don’t blame him, I blame our horrendously recruitment.

I know I'm making excuses for him but the majority of the mistakes he made - and he made a few - were down to being absolutely hung out to dry.
He was doubled up on by having limited defensive support ahead of him at times, had nobody in midfield wanting to take the ball off him at others and Nisbet didn't do enough to help him out when a ball into the striker's feet from LB was on.
The danger with singling out Lewis for yesterday is that our recruitment team could sniff out peak David Murphy and put him into that team and we'd very quickly convince ourselves that he's pish.

Stevenson had a nightmare but in fairness the boy Herkes took his goal really well and had an excellent game overall
Dundee United got what they deserved setting their stall out for a 2–1 win second half
Expect Lewis to bounce back on Sunday

As usual excuses after excuses for certain players
Time for others and him to move on and see what they can do and learn at other clubs .
If they are good enough they will be back on the coaching / management side.

He’s 35. He’s givien everything for this club. We shouldn’t be putting him in the position where we are relying on him as much as we are. He always gives his all but really we should have unearthed a proper replacement, to be fair we did with Doig, whom he can mentor and fill in for.

I think if Stevenson who made a good attempt to block the shot used his right leg instead of his left to tackle, he would have stopped the goal.
