Is anyone else finding them increasingly tedious?
They’re so dominant on the telly and while they add to the atmosphere occasionally it just seems to be that if you can’t drum a song it’s not worth signing at games anymore.

My wife 😆
Her complaining about the drums during the game was almost as incessant as the drums themselves.
I think its the first time she's been in when I've been watching. I'll have to send her out shopping in future!

They're fine if just used to get some songs started. When it's some boy just battering it incessantly for 90 mins they are a pain in the arse.
The whole ultras thing is all a bit Mickey mouse to be honest.

A guy came into the stand with a drum and sat down right next to me. I told him to beat it - and he did.

Drums to me are much like the Vuvuzela that was banned " very noisy and totally annoying" personally I'd love to see them banned from football grounds like the Vuvuzela!

No, they’re great and provide an atmosphere home and away. Otherwise we’d all be sitting on our hands with nothing to sing. Sounded great at the game today, too.

I don't mind them when they start a song but not all the time. They are much better that the loud hailer that they have brought along to some U19 games. That is truly torturous. They may as well pipe atmosphere in it is so fake at times.

Folk moaning at the drums being annoying on their TV while the guys at the game are actually trying to create an atmosphere and encourage the team...seriously?

I did, after 90 minutes for the Hibs game and 10 minutes in to the rangers one 😂.
100 minutes of thumping.

Don’t like drums at football games. Should be able to create an atmosphere without a drum.

Im fine with them as Ive got tinnitus so the banging of the drum and whistling in my ears is quite tuneful, so I just sit, tap my feet and click my fingers in a soulful sort of way

Noisy drums handy when you've been on the Heinz beans in all 😂

What's your secret Steve?
Been hearing this claim for years but nobody has ever been able to orchestrate an atmosphere without a regular drumbeat.
On the other hand, I've been on a couple of ground marches with the Ultras and the drum creates a fantastic atmosphere.

People have short memories. The reason ultra groups, singing sections, drums, megaphones etc have made there way into Scottish football is because previously, the atmospheres were absolutely appalling.
Only "criticism" of block7 today is the lack of the more traditional songs. Would be good to have hail hail, glory glory, we are hibernian FC etc etc thrown into the mix of the newer modern tunes.

This isn’t meant as a dig at block 7 or that, more of a general comment that there doesn’t seem to be any songs without a drum pounding in the background.
I very briefly found it refreshing to hear fans singing at Tannadice without a drum in the background until I realised it was Huns singing GSTK 😂

agree - the drums really helped the atmosphere and I'd rather have them than rely on someone trying to start off a song spontaneously. can even just help to get folk clapping along for those (of who there are many home and away) to contribute to the noise levels somehow.
however I also agree about the number of new songs - I just can't make out the words for half of them! can we have a song thread where folk post the lyrics??

Drums are fine.
Hopefully Block 7 are moved to FF lower next season and get the lower tier bouncing.

I’m not against the drumming, as such, but surely that’s a bizarre claim about atmosphere. I don’t recall drumming as a thing until the past decade or so and I’d swear I’ve been to matches that were absolutely rocking over many decades before they started at Hibs.

I thought It was just me getting older but it feels weird not knowing half the current songbook 😂
Know one of the songs is to the tune of Bella ciao..
Personally not a fan of the amount of Ceptic copied songs if I'm honest

Correct. The atmosphere was just fine in the 60s and 70s without drums. Do away with the drums and bring back the drink.

Using the drums now and again is fine, and helps.
they shouldn’t be used for the whole game as a crutch in place of proper songs and passion

The atmosphere way most Oren matches out with the OF is utterly pants.
Anything that keeps a consistent noise level is good.

There is a place for them. To start songs, enhance noise etc. they shouldnt be used throughout the whole game and for every song
However Block 7 seem to use the drum constantly for every song and have a tendency to totally ignore the classics (hail hail etc).

But it is being used a crutch because nobody else helps with the atmosphere- these guys are trying to create some and thank goodness they do. If the full stadium was bouncing the drummer probably wouldn't need to do anything.. or you wouldn't hear him.
Lack of atmosphere at Hibs and SPFL games in general is diabolical. People complaining about fans making noise and singing isn't a huge surprise tbh! We were playing Livi off the park a few weeks ago and even then the grounds like a morgue.
The players obviously appreciate efforts being made to support them as they always direct thanks to Block 7 at the end of games from what I see.
