If ever there was someone in need of a psychological therapy. Despite everything, I'll never forget his performance in 2016.
I guess the Daily Mail consider Hibs as a 'lower profile' team, somewhat below Hamilton.

It’s one of these that while the magnitude of the offence is very serious, there isn’t a huge amount of a surprise to learn of Anthony Stokes being lifted for such a crime.
It’s a shame, because while he will always be remembered for arguably one of the greatest Cup Final performances seen in Scotland, his misdemeanours off the pitch will probably make it harder for him to be embraced by Hibs fans in the future as a true hero alongside the likes of SJM, Daz, Gray, Hanlon will be.
Hopefully he grows up as he grows up.

Not these days. Stokesy's best mate Alan Ryan was murdered by a Dublin gangster(Ryan was a IRA 'hardman' who crossed the wrong lot). Anthony has always kept ****my company despite going to a very good school. He's good mates with Barry Hughes etc as well. My Mrs is Irish from Coolock, she grew up with a lot of them.

He'll always have a place in the history of this club, whatever sort of person he is the story of that final will always be Stokes '3' Stokes '80' .... MOM Anthony Stokes.
But lets face it, the guy is clearly an absolute melt and there's far more chance of him spending a few years in a 10 X 6 room than there is of him getting a gig as a meet and greet ambassador in one of our nice new hospitality lounges.

It's all about removing the CO2 bubbles from the side of the can, where they form at the nucleation points on the imperfections in the metal.
By spinning the can, you create a force which pulls the bubbles off the side of the can into the middle where they will disolve.
Alternatively, if you flick the side of the can on several places using the same motion you would use to flick rubbers in class, it has the same effect of removing the bubbles.
Don't tell the mother-in-law.

True, these are just a few of many who ruin their careers through addiction of some sort, I don't think the fame that goes with being a top player helps some of these lads. many cope and others struggle, still a shame to see anyone end up like this.

Were there not rumours that we were happy to usher him out the door to Celtic first time round as he was pestering young lads for money with which to gamble?
It’s a bit of a hint at a very young man having a fairly advanced problem.
I wonder if any of his clubs could have done any more to help him at any point?

More than just pestering. Iirc, he ‘borrowed’ a fair bit of money from young laddies, he was less than forthcoming with paying them back, until another first team player had him against a wall about it and forced him to square up the young players very quickly

Didn’t help that some of these young lads were going to the manager and letting him know what was going on but he wanted nothing to do with it, if I remember correctly one player’s family were going to go to the club to speak about it, gambling was rife in the squad at the time, everyone thought Stokesy was loaded and there would be no problems in him paying back debts, I’m sure the club paid the younger players and took it out AS wages and a few senior players were paid directly by AS himself, after that he was blanked by most of the squad.

However, he lodged £840 and was released on appeal bail shortly after the judge imposed the sentence
Interesting.
Not sure the articles are too misleading though, he’s still been sentenced to 15 months imprisonment.
We’ll see how the appeal goes…

A player can be a god to us on the pitch and still behave like a total plonker off it. Stokes was a force of nature in the Cup Final. It was like he had a vendetta with Sevco he had to settle that day and we gained the benefit of it. I hope he conquers his demons, rids himself of addictions and learns how to function as a decent human being treating others with the respect with which he hopes to be treated. It will be a hard road to travel but that's true of many of the most valuable journeys.

Not sure how Tavernier will cope in prison, as presumably he would be going too since he’s still in Stokes’ back pocket

Sounds like he is trying to turn his life around. I sincerely hope he does, absolute legend that he is.

Should bring him back for the Xmas party just so he can grab a fire extinguisher and cover BK and IG.

Wow. Driving drunk at 95mph and hitting another driver whilst running from the police, with €3700 worth of coke on you doesn’t get you a jail sentence?
That’s mental.

As much as he is a club legend and that I clearly don't have all the facts of the case, it seems crazy that he isn't doing jail time for this. Let's hope the prospect of doing time leads him to turn things around rather than him thinking that he can do anything and his expensive lawyers will get him off.
