View Full Version : Plan B

The 'Plan A' advocated by some posters is thst the best way to change our fortunes appears to be 'voting with our feet' and that by withdrawing our support for the team this will show Ron Gordon that we are deeply unhappy with the way he is running Hibs.

We really can't judge anyone for losing their appetite for watching their team getting gubbed nearly every week. As someone who suffered Hibs being on the end of some 6 and 5 goal hidings in the Seventies, it takes some real fortitude to live out the adage 'We'll support you evermore'.

Am I the only supporter that believes in greater supporter activism and involvement in the running of our club? I don't mean an angry horde shouting outside the West Stand. Nor am I suggesting full supporter ownership.

In the large pool of season ticket holders we have a number of talented businessmen and women who have followed the club for decades and would happily give up time to get around the table with the board. Crucially, they could give the perspective of the supporter whilst challenging the current strategy in an honest, up-front manner.

For me, the club board is far too remote from the supporter base. We are left to try to guess what direction we are heading in and what our strategy is. We bleat endlessly on social media, feeling powerless to improve the fortunes of the club that we love.

Maybe it's time for Hibs Supporters to get organised?

Unfortunately some posters see it as their mission in life to encourage us to do exactly that!

Nobody is happy with what’s been going on but I’ve never been an advocate of noisy protest or voting with my tootsies.
However The executives need to wake up and smell the coffee before we spiral downwards even further

I salute your indefatigability (to quote George Galloway) but we're one of the top 5 clubs in Scotland in terms of resources and fan base - yet on current form we're the worst team in the top flight. If I thought the presence of the fans was inspiring the team then I'd keep going but it's clearly having zero impact and I think in the current circumstances fans are very much justified in withdrawing their support.

The problem is as long as you sit on your hands or just keep clapping nothing will change. The executives don't fear keyboard warriors but a noisy protest or a walk out just might focus their attention.

I would love to see you point out even just one post where anybody has encouraged other fans to withdraw their support.

They don't need to. All they need to do is start a thread justifying why they are going to walk away.

We are meant to just accept that the thread starter attends games regularly even though to get a user account on here, there's no requirement whatsoever to prove that you're on the Hibs database.

We are an independent unofficial fans website that has no access to the clubs database, nor would we want to have.
If you think that the current Admin team aren’t doing a good enough job of weeding out the occasional posters who are only here to stir things up then maybe you should offer to take over running the place.

Won’t be withdrawing my support because we are on a bad run. That would make me, well, not a real supporter.

In other words, you made it up.

I was also unaware that being a thread starter on Hibs.net meant you had to regularly attend games. Think that’ll be news to everybody, bad news especially for any of our overseas fans.

It is up to one's individual choice and I made my choice some years ago whilst watching the team against Kilmarnock during a midweek game at ER. Was on Hecky's watch and was utterly atrocious and nothing has changed! It is a shambles right now and not returning until the glaring obvious is addressed and we have people (Ron can still own us) in charge who know what they are doing.

I've been a private member far too long to start being critical of the way the board is run. That was the last thing on my mind when I replied.

I'm only stating the main constraint of ALL fans forums which is the ability of anyone to apply for a user account without having to prove their credentials as a supporter.

So when a poster or posters start threads stating 'I won't be back', we have no way of knowing whether they are regular attendees or people who scarcely or never set foot in Easter Road.

I appreciate that some fans drift away from supporting Hibs. What I have little patience for is faceless posters who only ever post negatively about our club making a public fanfare of announcing their walking away.

I bet it won't stop them continuing to troll us on this board?

Presume you`ve handed names of people who would know what they`re doing to club .

I find it hard to take the above as genuine given you’ve proudly been telling us for years now that you don’t bother much about Hibs these days.

OP - if it was true that people are doing their best to get people to stop going to games. Why do we need to come up with any plans rather than just ignore the one or two attention-seekers that appear after a defeat/during tougher times?
