View Full Version : Lack of on pitch leadership.

Aside from the footballing performance, was absoutely raging at how little leadership there was on the pitch today from the Hibs team today.

For example, Youan burst through the midfield today second half and was rugby tackled by a Hearts player - A regulation yellow card anyday of the week, and Clancy doesnt give it. Why are the players not going mad at the ref for that? They have to put pressure on him in situations like that so that he rethinks or at least produces a yellow next time.

Same with the bounce ball when Hearts player went down in their box second half. It was clearly a drop ball to Hibs on the half way line, we are 2 nil down, so why is someone not grabbing the ball and ready to take the drop ball - instead we gave the ball to Hearts players who then wasted a bit more time at the side of the pitch with it.

Little things I know but I think quite telling about why we are where we are...

Obviously Porto may have changed that but hes likely away so its a major problem we need to address IMO.

Soft losers in every area of the park is the issue.

No one willing to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and drive themselves or their teammates on. Just finger pointing and whinging and moaning like wee bairns.

This is something me and my mate talk about a lot in games. No way is Hanlon a captain, but who else has the character to do it?

There is a lack of leadership throughout the club , not just on the pitch.

I've stuck up for Hanlon in the past, you don't always need to be a shouter and baller but you need a bit of fire in the team with a couple of players - just looked like none today, and Hanlon was as guilty as anyone.

True but there are plenty other threads about that :greengrin

Hanlon never is and never was a captain in his puff. But the fact there are no obvious others is a strong indicator where we are as a squad. Gutless with no characters.

There is none. You can look across the city and hand the armband to half their team.

No one at half time would have been tearing their team mates a new ********. Hanlon stripped of captaincy was the shout for years but it hasn’t solved anything.

When the players were finishing their warm up right in front of us they came over to clap before they went down the tunnel. Honestly looked a beaten bunch at that point.

The game started and you had your most experienced player in Stevenson looking terrified of the ball. Nutmegged and gave a foul away in the first minute or two then went on to just boot the ball in whatever direction he was facing. A minute later we had the ball up at the top end of the park (a throw in) and it came all the way back to Marshall.

Nobody, anywhere on the park, has anything about them to inspire others. Be it by the way they play or getting about people. Until the game is done when they all realise they need to start playing.
