We've had similar red cards and appealed them and failed, not surprised

Given we have var now it’s hard to see a decision being overturned where the ref and var made the decision.

It was for me the right decision although it’s one of those if it had been porteous I would have disagreed with it.

Thought this was the worst shout for a stand renaming ever

Careless is when a player shows a lack of attention or consideration when making a challenge or acts without precaution. No disciplinary sanction is needed

Reckless is when a player acts with disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, an opponent and must be cautioned

Using excessive force is when a player exceeds the necessary use of force and endangers the safety of an opponent and must be sent off

Based on this (the rules) it’s a minimum yellow and no amount of revisionism or interpretation of the rules can say otherwise.

For a moment I thought the title of the thread was the strangest name for a terracing in football

A red in the game nowadays all day long. Whether that's how it should be is a different question but no way that was getting overturned.

We were lucky Nisbet didn't get badly hurt . Holt knew what he was doing imo .Red all day long . Thought Martindale's explanation of it was pathetic .

Trial by Sportscene defending the indefensible

Once it goes to VAR that is it

They should know better intent was there

Couple of clowns

Next !

Whodathunkit.

Player knowingly flies into an avoidable bad challenge after a wee fly glance knowing that an opponent was there and at risk of injury?

The Ref knew, VAR knew, Ryan knew, and so it seems did the Appeals committee.

Looking like a red.......

Delighted to read this.

The third angle on the TV coverage was particularly damming. The one where Holt saw Nisbet coming and so decided that a dangerous sliding tackle was the only option available other than lose the ball

If Nisbet hadn't been there, Holt would have been able to jog over and pick up the loose ball.

How the Sportscene guys (and a fair few Hibs fans) missed both of these aspects is beyond me.

Definitely a red, but I wouldn’t go as far as naming one of our stands after the incident.

No additional games for frivolous appeal? Must only apply to RP these days.

Good point that was a shocking decision when you think about it

Genuinely can only recall that being applied to Porteous.

Hadn't heard of it happening for years prior to it happening to Porteous last season and haven't heard of it happening to anyone since.

It was an absolutely nonsense decision which should have been challenged publicly by the club.

Nothing shocking about it, its a personal vendetta. It's why he won't be in Scotland for much longer.
