That's shocking news.

I hadn't been aware of the root cause of his lifelong battle with depression.

Gutted about this. Feel the same sense of loss as when Bowie died nearly 7 years ago. So sad, but some great songs will live on.

I have a vivid memory of being driven back from some youth club trip to fife in 1981 (back in the days when the council had youth clubs for kids to have stuff to do in the summer holidays), and Ghost Town was on the radio it had just gone to #1, it was unusual to see a wonderful track like that talking about the **** that was going on in the world being top of the charts instead of the usual bland over produced pop that normally went to #1 at the time, the whole mini bus of 11 year olds seem to be nodding our heads in time to it. Felt like it was for us.

RIP Terry.

That’s an awful story about his childhood. I had no idea. I hope he found some peace in his life.

Really sad news. Along with Jerry Dammers, Terry Hall was at the very core of what Two-Tone records was all about. A mix of rocksteady, Ska and protest element of punk. The Specials were pivotal and significant, as was Terry Hall.
