And you gathered all this info from the 10 or so minutes he got yesterday?

Na it’s more to do with the contribution (or lack of) over the last 8 months.

There’s absolutely nothing there to suggest he just needs some time to develop or whatever.

Well we will have to agree to disagree.

What is it that you see that makes you think he might magically turn it around and turn in to a player?

We’ve got Kenneth to come back from Ross Co in the summer, remember him?

He’ll make all the difference next season.

Knew there would be a post about him, he came on with 5 minutes to go for the first time in who knows how long, not really sure what anyone expected him to do with that time.

Be able to adequately control the football for a start. He looked like he was **** scared. Conceded the throw in that led to the goal because he couldn’t get hold of the ball.

His first touch was off his knee and out for a throw in. Not sure what impact moving to a new country, settling in, ‘young’ player blah blah blah has on someone’s ability to do the basics right. You’d expect to see at least some small glimpses of talent even taking into account any external factors but I’ve not seen a single thing from this lad that gives me any hope he’ll contribute anything at ER. I’m not having a go at him personally, I blame the people behind the horrendous decision to give him a 5 year contract. Could well end up being up there as the worst deal dished out at ER, right up there with the Magennis 5 year contract.

All those using the old ‘young man moving to a new country’ excuse just need to look at how well the young Scottish lads have adapted to life in Italy to see how much of a tired old excuse that is.

It's not a tired old excuse though, moving to a new country is difficult, especially if things don't go well straight away.

He's not exactly been helped by the manager in this situation, dropping him in to a game with 5 minutes to go when he's not kicked a ball in the first team for months, most players arent going to have an amazing impact.

I just think it's pretty harsh to be so down on the guy when he's barely been given any opportunity and those in charge have somehow piled lots of expectations and pressure on him out of nothing

I haven’t seen enough of him to suggest he’s going to be a superstar. I’ve seen nothing to suggest he doesn’t have any footballing talent whatsoever either.

That’s exactly my point. He’s had no time to show us what he can do.

I didn't expect him to control the ball 40 yards which led to their penalty. The players went through him like a ton of bricks after that. He's brutal.

I’m not convinced Jair or Bojang were Johnson signings anyway. We’re still felling the pain of Ian Gordon dabbling in transfers

Johnson was happy to take the credit when we signed them.

That’s exactly my point. He’s had no time to show us what he can do.

This is the spin we were provided when he signed - “Completing the deal to bring Jair to Hibernian FC is a real coup for this football club. “He’s an incredibly talented winger that’ll not only improve our First Team squad, but is someone that has a lot of potential to develop into a top player in this league.
“Jair is an exciting, attacking talent that adds speed and trickery to our wide areas. We welcome him warmly to Hibs and look forward to working with him."

So whats the deal? If he was an improvement then surely he would of had more minutes. The fact he hasnt suggests he isnt good enough and therefore a bad signing. Resonates with McKirdy if you ask me.

What i dont understand is how Myko doesnt start, he has shown he can compete at this level yet yesterday we had McKirdy ahead of him. Bizarre.

Those quotes from LJ and Ian Gordon haven’t helped the lad at all, have they? I remember reading that on his signing and couldn’t wait to see him play.

I also think he needs to bulk up, quite a bit!

All for giving him a chance but maybe we should have loaned him out in the Championship if he wants to toughen up and make it at Hibs. In that scenario its then up to the player’s appetite to succeed here long term.

Don't understand why we keep putting him on the bench if he’s never going to be used. If he is really poor and not up to it, makes zero sense having him there ahead of an O’Connor / Laidlaw.

BTW, I don’t understand why Myko hasn’t been given more minutes/starts hes been back for a while and someone I rate and would love to keep. Cracking goal yesterday and also had a brilliant knock down for McKirdy.

I feel sorry for Tavares.

Never played in weeks, thrown on yesterday with 5 minutes to play, one poor piece of control and he's singled out as having played an indirect part in costing us the game. That's not to say he didn't play a part obviously or that he didn't look a bit lost when he was on but there were others far more culpable for the defeat yesterday.

He seems a decent lad who has got his head down and worked hard. Tbh I don't really like the mentality that trying is enough, I would try it you put me in a Hibs shirt but that wouldn't make me the answer. However if someone is struggling for quality or whatever then it's all you can ask from them and he's done that bit.

I think he's another punt that just hasn't worked. Whether we were trying to be clever, underestimated what is required for Scotland or what I don't know but with the deal we have given him he's not going to be easy to unload. Maybe a 6 month loan at the start of next season to give him minutes and confidence is the way to go.

He had the chance to go on loan in January with Hibs getting a loan fee and he turned it down.

That's disappointing to read.

I suppose it then begs the question why we have had him on the bench ahead of a couple of youngsters if we felt we could do without him altogether though. If his departure would have created a space for O'Connor or Laidlaw then surely you just do it anyway and leave him out the squad?

Said the same on a whatsapp group to mates, feel a bit sorry for him.
Its hard to come on an adjust to a game but add in he hasn't featured since Jan, that’s difficult for the best of players.

Then gets mentioned in his managers post match interview.

He may/may not be good enough. He may not be enjoying his time here either, who knows. If he’s not going to play, maybe a loan could help him mature to our game. Put that to him and it’ll will be up to him on how much he wants to be here and succeed. If he’s not up for that then best for all concerned he moves on.

With Johnson mentioning his poor touch in interviews after the game, it’s safe to say he’s had a go at him behind closed doors too. Jair’s confidence levels will be practically zero at the moment.

Still willing to give him a chance but he has to show it in training.

I’ve heard from a good source it was Harry McKirdy who set Bojangs head on fire
