Daily Record reporting hahahahahearts had to abandon their warm up game v Almeria because they got involved in a mass punch up and Cochrane sent off. Who’d have thunk it? 🙄

Alex Cochrane tackle that triggered events to punch up , Robbie says it was just a standard tackle , that Cochrane is a dirty wee mitten , they were also losing at the time too !

For once Replay Robbie called it correctly, it was a standard tackle. ie it was a standard Hearts tackle from the back with the ball 5 yards away. Imagine if Devlin had been there! RR really is a moron.

Just read a report on this, nothing more than thieves using the friendly to brush up on their serial fouling strategy?

As the Replayman said, Cochrane was sent off what he regarded as a routine tackle........

Don't really get Neilson's claim that the tackle by Cochrane was a 'standard tackle'. He's had a kick at the boy after the ball is long gone, knew exactly what he was doing, has tried to be sneaky and has ended up getting put on his erse for his trouble.

Bully boy behaviour and like all bullies he got his comeuppance.

The fact that Robbie Replay seems to think that "tensions are a bit high" as the reason for not playing the rest of the game and it's somehow the referee losing control of it when it's their thug who appears to have instigated it is incredible.

I watched it because I’m a football geek but although it’s a training game I hope LJ saw how weak they are at right back and centrally. Playing two up top and a wide player would be my option for both derbies.

They were outplayed for the 30 minutes I saw and what the Spanish side did was play width and not through the lines centrally. Of course they were minus Gordon, Devlin and Rowles, but for me, the way to get at them is to target Smith in particular and play a striker between their centre halves and again specifically closing them down quickly.

So getting a game abandoned is “showing a bit of fight”? If Hibs players behaved in that manner I would be disgusted, it shows them up for the arrogant and indisciplined fuds that they are

And Atkinson, their right back who is in Qatar with The Socceroos?

Mind you, right back is not his best position, and I don’t think he has set the Heather on fire there.

Pretty sure I didn’t use the term superstar, but I’ll forgive your hyperbole.

Yes, I have watched Atkinson for several years, and not so long ago he was the best player on the park against Argentina at the Olympics.

An Argentinian team that contained players from Real Madrid and Barca.

Yes, as my earlier post alludes to……he IS struggling in the right back role for Hearts.

Thing is, he’s not much of a right back and needs to be pushed further forward….I was surprised when Hearts played him there.

Hopefully they keep playing him there.

Genuine question …this was a friendly and not a bounce game, then will there will be a referees report into the abandonment of the game which could lead to fines and other sanctions for both clubs?

Apologies in advance if it wasn't yourself, but we had a poster claiming when he signed for then he was a fantastic signing and they would make big money from him when selling him on.

It could be he stood out in the Australian league but perhaps that is a lower standard than the Scottish Premiership.

It's probably difficult to compare standards, but Cummings has done well enough down there to make the world cup squad whereas he couldn't even get a game at Dundee here.

Guess we'll see where his career takes him....he certainly had the potential, and I'm sure if he can break his defensive shackles he can go on to fulfil my expectations.

No disrespect but this is probably the 345th time that has been suggested on here., so I won't answer in great detail.

In Scotland the Scots think the A league is a pub league and in Australia they think exactly the same about the SPL.

Both leagues are what they are, and people will have their own opinions, and good luck to them.

In the case of Jason Cummings though, I think its more about the rebirth of his spirit than just playing football....he is the happiest he has been in years and when you are happy you tend to play much better than when you are not, although I understand his recent history in Scotland may not seem to support that.

I can remember just before he went from Hibs to Notts forest some posters on here were saying he shouldn't go for any less than 2 million quid.

Jason is playing the best football of his career, irrespective of where he has been, and loves his new life.

As for Atkinson, my opinion was not just based on his club form, but also of how he has played coming through the national team structure.

If I am wrong about him, then so be it..no big deal,...it wouldn't be the first time a player hasn't lived up to a punter's expectations.

But I hope he can fulfil what many see as his potential....only not with Hearts please.

Do you think he’s more of a wingback/right mid? Seems to be decent going forward from what I’ve saw.

What’s your thoughts on Lewis Miller? A lot seem to have wrote him off already but I really like what I’ve saw. His ability to beat a man with a sharp turn or quick feet is really pleasing and he looks more willing to Chuck aimless balls in the box. He’s also an absolute machine physically and seems to enjoy the defensive side.

Cheers

Right side of midfield is where Atkinson thrives.

More importantly….Lewis Miller.

Getting a bit worried about Lewis’s long absence.

Think he showed in the pre season that he had ability.
Was an outstanding right back here but has been desperately unlucky with injuries since moving, and I hope being injured in a new country where you don’t know many people and it is cauld enough to freeze your nuts off, don’t make him think too much of his life on Sydney’s picturesque northern beaches.
He is good full back, and all he really needed to do before getting injured was adjust to the much faster pace of the game in Scotland.
Oh, and keep his boots on😂
Just needs a few games under his belt to get his confidence back up and he’ll be ok.

It's interesting Freddie that JC's stats in Oz are almost as good as his stats for us in 3 seasons in the Championship. That's not suggesting the A League and our Championship are of equal quality, more a reminder that our time in the Championship was shared with Hearts, Rangers (2 seasons), Livingston, Dundee United and St Mirren. JC of course also scored some cup crackers against some supposedly higher rated teams, 2016 comes to mind for some reason.
