Martin Boyle is a serious doubt to take part in the World Cup

The Socceroos have flown out a potential replacement...Marco Tillio, should he be ruled out.

Players already named in the squad can be replaced up to 24 hours before their first game, so fingers crossed

Would feel heart sorry for Boyler if he missed out.

Pretty gutting for him but it’s not looking good. Looked so innocuous at the time aswell

It's strange, as we were told by a number of posters that he was fit to play for Hibs and we chose not to. They couldn't have been wrong and just bashing the club without evidence could they?

Would be heartbreaking for him, as he’s worked so hard to get there ! He could always room share with Jason and take in the experience 😅

Hopefully pulls through for financial boost as well. Couple of 100k for Hibs would be a good help come January.

We already have Kevin Nisbet sitting twiddling his thumbs as a result of inept refereeing. I counted about nine serious challenges in that game and no action. It was inevitable someone was going to be seriously hurt.
Way too many hammer throwers get away with way too much in Scottish football.

Any update on his progress?

Any update on his progress?

Nope, he has been absent from group training along with one other player.

No progress reports have been issued, and the only one who has said ‘it’s only precautionary’ has been Cam Devlin when put on the spot.

There is a suggestion that Arnie may keep him in the squad whatever happens, not play him against France in the opening game to give him another couple of days, and bring him out for the games against Tunisia and Denmark, where his presence would arguably make a bigger difference

The fact that he hasn’t trained with the rest of the squad is a worry though.

Latest update 7-30 am Sunday Sydney time….Saturday night Edinburgh

Report from Australian football reporter in Doha stating that it is looking like Martin Boyle is losing his race to be fit in time.

He says that this is the feeling among the playing staff, but let’s hope he’s just doing the 2+2=5 thing.

Anyway, Arnie has until 6am Sydney time on Monday to make the decision, so we’ll know soon enough.

Heart sorry for the guy. Must be a huge personal blow after playing such a key role in qualifying. Hopefully not out for too long from our perspective.

Does anybody know where he goes from here? Will he need an op just rest and conditioning? Not sure how much info is out there at the moment.

Yep still possible he may be out for a while. Wonder exactly what the issue is and how long before he can play

It was a strange one as he played on for a wee bit after the injury and then walked off the pitch with no visible injury

Think he wasn't able to run. Some knee issue assume ligament / cartilage hopefully not ACL

Disappointed for him on a personal level but it's absolutely crucial for us that he's back after the break.

We simply can't afford to have him out for any length of time, that doesn't really bear thinking about to be honest.

Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.
