I agree. I would love to see Messi cap his career with a WC winners medal.

Brazil for me, loads of their big players flying at club level just now and seem to be hitting form at the right time.

Gone with Brazil but think the power still lies in Europe of which I think France are tge best team if a little tempremental in recent times world cup wise south american teams fall over when they meet Europes top sides in the later stages.

I've got france in the family sweepie, last I read they had a horrendous injury list so I'm prepared to lose my tenner lol
I reckon portugal could do summit, they've got real strength in depth in that squad.

Nkunku is the latest French injury. Shame as I thought he could make a big impact on this tournament.

Here's my list of Qatar World Cup winners

Every corrupt official at FIFA, plus ex officials like Blatter
The PR department of the Qatari Government
Brainless ex footballers with no morals (e.g. David Beckham)
Corrupt and moral free politicians
The moral free businesses making millions from construction and infrastructure contracts (e.g. UK firms like Carillion, Hyder, etc)

I could go on but you get the jist.

Haven't watched him play for ages, might have been the Euros.

I watched a documentary about him a while ago. Did you know he is fluent in 7 languages? I think he would make an excellent Manager when he retires, just for having the ability to communicate directly with footballers in his team from different countries.

Voted Belgium, don't have a great deal of need to watch the world cup as it will all revolve around England!
The sooner they are sent packing (hopefully by Wales) the better, as then you get less biased commentary on games!!!

ABE. Down south for xmas this year and would be unbearable if the unthinkable happened.

Be good to see Argentina win it in possibly Messi’s last World Cup.

Just checked for an update. He's with the squad, being monitored daily. The last scan on his injury showed some improvement.

There’s always teams that flatter to deceive, I think Argentina and Spain will fall on their faces this time. Brazil-France final makes sense, but I’ll be cheering on whichever underdog gets the furthest. Denmark for the semis seems possible.

Think the heat will be a major factor. Been to Qatar a few times and it’s warmer than hell in the shade so I think it will be a hot country that may just win it as they may be used to the heat.

Every stadium is air conditioned to avoid any matches being played in extreme heat. All 8 stadiums have it installed.

50 votes out of 75 are for Argentina and Brazil?

I mean, either of them might well do it, but the last four world cups have been won by European teams. My money would be on one of them.

Argentina are coming into the tournament in pretty impressive form and look like they're a bit more structured than recent years, where they were trying to shoehorn a wealth of attacking talent into the XI. A good squad, good coach and Messi's last WC means I think they could well win it and hope they do.

Brazil, Spain, Germany and France could all be there. I don't think England have enough quality and think their squad, as per usual, is massively overrated. Denmark will be my dark horse for the tournament.

So, after the first week of the World Cup is everyone still confident of their pick?

As of today, it was Argentina and Brazil who were the .net leading predictions, but Argentina (my pick) could be out of the tournament by 9pm tonight if they lose to Mexico.

Brazil and France looked impressive in their games, as did Spain. England will progress in the tournament, but don't have the class to win it (I hope) and you could say that about a few teams.

For those who haven't voted yet, I set the deadline for votes as the end of the second round of matches, so you've still got a chance to vote.

Any team that can put 4 past the Socceroos must go close.....so France are obvious winners for me.

I do though, reserve the right to amend that prediction after we play Denmark on Wednesday!

I wrote them off given their form coming into this tournament, but France are head-and-shoulders above any other team in the comp. Les Bleus to win.

France are the only team I've seen and thought they played well twice. They look and feel like a team. There's others who can click on the day, and have talent but France look the most polished.

So that's Holland and Argentina through to one quarter final.

Tomorrow, I think joined by France and England.

Then likely to be Brazil and Croatia.

Finally, Spain and Portugal.

Looks like the better teams will be in the last eight. Yes, Germany and Belgium will be missing, but both are not as good as the past.

I would fully expect England to beat Senegal, though there's some weird anomaly where the vast majority of England WC games that have been shown on BBC have resulted in an England win, whereas the vast majority of games shown on ITV have resulted in an England defeat. Tomorrow's game is on ITV, so here's hoping the run continues. :greengrin

Hopefully a good Omen :aok:🇨🇲🇨🇲

The following stats only goes back to 1998, but quite a weird difference between games shown on each channel.

BBC P16 W12 D1 L3 - Win% 75%
ITV P15 W2 D6 L7 - Win% 13%

In this World Cup, ITV had the USA game where BBC had the Iran and Wales games.

Same as 46% of those who posted their predictions.

Croatia v Argentina is going to be another roller-coaster of a game and I'm thinking it'll be Croatia. Think Portugal, France & England will all be stronger than either Croatia or Argentina.

So based on the above, and considering the way the tournament has played out, it's Morocco to be crowned World Champions. :greengrin

I really don't care now, England are out so now I can enjoy the semi-finals with out the England bias at every game!
My biggest joy so far, was Ian Wright in tears after the England exit!!!
The "WE SHOULD" have beat France, it was the referee not giving us penalties???
At least they are magnanimous in defeat!:wink::confused::confused:
