:bitchy:

I realise that it was a mistake (I'll give them the benefit of the doubt) but it's worrying to think that someone, in Germany, didn't know what they were advertising.

I thought these things were taught in German schools or is it now like in this country where we ignore all the terrible things that our armies etc did in the past?

It would be like getting a text telling you to have an extra steak bake to celebrate the Manchester bombing or similar but worse.

KFC sent out a push notification to their German app users inviting them to treat themselves to commemorate "Reichspogromnacht" aka Kristallnacht.

Sorry, I forgot to post the link.

KFC texted its customers telling them to celebrate Kristallnacht with extra cheese etc.

Kristallnacht was the first? nazi pogrom against Jews which led to massacres in November 1938.

Likely explanation is that someone in the US fed in a list of notable German dates to the app calendar without knowing what it was.

Are those your thoughts or has that explanation been offered?

I know I said I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, but when it comes to naziz, I'm always suspicious. There will be gleeful skinheads all over Germany tucking into KFC today.

I'm just guessing (educated guess based on calendars I've had prepared by US companies I've worked for).

I suppose the other obvious explanation is a sneaky neo-Nazi in KFC towers?

I read about that and honestly couldn't believe anybody could be so stupid.

Some thick Yank looks through his calendar of historic events to advertise his product... ignores the Fall of The Berlin Wall on 9th-Nov (something to actually celebrate)... and chooses Kristallnacht?

Sometimes I really do despair.
