Boyle and Cummings in squad.

Players from or playing in Scotland make up large proportion of squad!

4 Hibs players or Hibs former players in the squad
Boyle
Cummings
Irvine
MacLaren

Delighted for Jason Cummings and for Boyle

What a turnaround he's made in his career eh.

Just goes to show, if it's not happening for you in once place, sometimes you need to make a move somewhere new

I can see him scoring the winner against France!

Good on them all & best of luck to them.
Is that the final squad or is it to be trimmed down?

It's technically their final squad but any injured players can be replaced up to 24 hours before the team's first match so Boyle will likely be getting assessed every day for the next 2 weeks and the Australian medical team will then decide if he's fit enough to remain in the squad or if he needs to be replaced.

Think they have until 15 Nov to make any changes.

$10k per day while the player is at the World Cup starting from 1-2 weeks before the opening game. Payable to all clubs a player has been at in the last 2 years.

So we’ll get about $500k for Boyle and Irvine with the potential for more if they progress through their group.

Incredible that Cummings can go from not being able to get a game at Dundee to possibly playing in the World Cup. Brilliant stuff.

I find it very strange - maybe some players just find somewhere they fit in.

But Australia are better than Scotland - so if he's good enough for them then why can't he get a game for Scotland?

Scotland are ranked 42 - Australia are ranked 34.

Scotland are 40th. Australia are 38th.

That still doesn't make them better than Scotland.

So should be about £120k or so providing Boyle is fit enough.

So based on $500k for 2 players, do the thieves get $750k for having 3 players there? $1.25M seems an offie lot of money for 5 players going to the world cup. My previous reads were it was $100k per player for the full tournament.

What is the deal with payments to clubs for international performances? Is this why X plays 150 games for Hubs and doesn't get a pick, plays one game for Celtic and he's in straight away? Seems a complete racquet.

As someone else pointed out above, it’s pro-rated amongst a players previous clubs so us and Hearts won’t be getting the full amount for any of the players.

FIFA has set aside $209m for these payments.

£170k I've seen per player in the Group stage.
Probably works put that Hearts will get about £300k to £350k for their 3 players.

What a silly last statement. Even if Australia were better than Scotland (they’re a long way behind), Boyle chose to represent Oz years ago, so “getting a game” with Scotland now clearly isn’t an option.

I was talking about Cummings. And I was going on the FIFA rankings - I'm not sure what else there is to go on as the teams never play each other.

My apologies - my fault for not reading properly. Do you think Cummings is good enough for Scotland? What seems like a majority don’t even think he is good enough for us now, or was ever good enough for the Scottish Premiership!

I don’t think there’s any doubt scotland are the better national side, and would pay little attention to the rankings in that regard.

We haven’t played Man City in a long time but it’s plain to see that we’re the far better side 😁

If we were playing Asian teams in qualifying our ranking would be higher.

Stick that Australia squad in a UEFA qualifying group and that ranking would plummet.

Based on £170k per player and pro-rated for time with each club I calculate it as:

Hibs: £156k (Boyle £120k, Irvine £35k)

Really chuffed for Martin Boyle to be going to the World Cup, and even more so in some ways for Jason Cummings given that it was a bit more of a surprise. I still look on him as a Hibs player and to see him at a World Cup is proper living the dream stuff.

Friendly apps. Can change nationality if you've never played in a competitive game. He's got Aussie family
