Centre was petrol bombed today withthe assailant killing himself after lobbing 3 devices into the centre.

No details yet about person responsible as yet to give context. Others being treated for injuries.

The recent Tory rhetoric about immigration again and the reappointment of Braverman is them trying to keep the right onside, keep immigration as a key issue with those who went Blue for Brexit and detract from all the other crap going on under their watch.

Press reports this week about Albanian criminal gangs allegedly flooding Dover with their compatriots who have been willing to pay for trafficking was notable. The reports that the biggest group now making channel crossings are unaccompanied Albanian males will be stoking the embers of a post Brexit fire with those who thought they were voting to "take back control".

Being dealt with by Kent Police and not being treated as a terrorist situation. On the basic facts it sounds like terrorism to me?

Hostile environment policy likely the driving force behind this

I'd be careful about jumping to conclusions about this as one report suggested (though far from being a confirmed fact) a possibility that it was someone previously detained in the centre

I was just reading that it was a 66 year old guy that travelled 20(?) miles to throw the petrol bomb, so the suggestion I read about it being a former resident looks unlikely.

Apparently there;s been a number of incidents, thankfully mostly minor, but it is really sad that some people have such strange attitudes to immigrants.

High Wycombe apparently. 120 mile drive to lob a couple of petrol bombs and then top yourself.

A huge far right cell broken, apparently centres on a German military special forces unit. 3000 police involved yesterday, 130 sites being searched across every corner of the country. Incredible.

These loonies were part of the crazy coalition of nutters that tried to storm the Reichstag at the height of the covid pandemic. We had one in my last job who was a nice guy until you got onto the subject of politics, he'd then turn into a raging nutter convinced that the current constitution was illegal because the last German Empire was never legally dissolved.

But sounds like a worryingly large network of people.

Nigel Farage has connections to one of the people arrested, how many coup d'état is this guy mixed up in? Front and centre with a few of the Jan 6th perps and now involved with a coup in Germany too. Dodgy as hell.

If you follow the money on all these extremist right wing oddball conspiracies, I'd bet my virginity it goes all the way back to the Kremlin.

:agree:

The Kremlin would be my guess as well.

No coincidence one of the suspects was a former AFD member.

The downfall of Putin's war in Ukraine will be his lack of patience.

In much the same way that funding in the era of Islamist terrorism could almost always be traced to Riyadh so to can the rise of right wing extremism be traced to Moscow. Putin has spent years trying to destabilise European cooperation (aided and abetted by plenty with influence and power in the west of course, much like the Saudis were and are).
