It's 17 days till the 60th anniversary of their league cup win. Might have a look on moonpig to see if they have any appropriate cards.

Jfk was riding high as president, aids hadn't killed any of its 35 million, man hadn't been on the moon, Internet wasn't a thought and computers weren't in homes, mlk hadn't had a dream, USSR and the Berlin Wall stood, Albert kidd was 1 year old, they hadn't been pumped 7 nil on new years day, Frank sauzee hadn't been born or scored a rocket in the millennium Derby. The only thing the same is their main stand still doesn't have views of the castle

On that day Telstar by The Tornados was number one. Vasily Arkhipov saved Hearts trophy celebration by refusing to launch a nuclear missile.

Have a feeling the single was released before the album.

Find it funny when they bang on about being a big club. Raith Rovers, Ross County, Livingston, Kilmarnock, St Johnstone fans have all seen their team win it. Hearts fans will need to ask their grandparents.

It would be 12 years before Ferranti Thistle (the predecessors to the predecessors of the club we now know as Livingston) would enter the Scottish League

John Glenn did his first orbit of the earth. Probably trying to figure out the electrical cost of 400,000 Hearts dafties being wired to the moon

Since they last won the LC cup my now 89 year old Grandad has celebrated his 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th and 80th birthdays and all being well he will celebrate his 90th before they get another chance to win it. Oh and he's watched Hibs win the the League Cup 3 times and the Scottish Cup once in that period as well.

Dundee United - 3
Partick Thistle - 1
Dundee - 1
Raith Rovers - 1
Livingston - 1
Kilmarnock - 1
St Mirren - 1

13 US Presidents and 14 UK Prime Ministers have all asked the same question.

"Has the big team won the League Cup yet"?

A one bedroom flat in Gorgie could be bought for less than a season ticket cost today !

In 1962 i was a 9 yr old in the boys cubs doing bob a job and learning to light a camp fire without matches !
Now i am a Great Grandad :greengrin

If they ever get near a LC final,i bet they wont call it "the Diddy Cup"

Edit
Had the wrong year at first. their previous win!

Funny that Hearts used to sing about a cup hoodoo and now they have one of their own. Karma.

They’ve by far the worst song book in Scotland 👍 their Shaun Maloney song was utterly tragic 😂 Hearts song, Gorgie Boys, the end 👍

Oops forgot “Robbie, Robbie GTF” 😂👍

You could also add Celtic twice, Rangers once and Aberdeen once. Statistically We should have won at least 3 of them. I wouldn’t count St J as they beat us in the Semi final.

Well corrected
The one that still rattles me is the 1993 Final against the hun at Celtic Park.
"We wiz robbed"

We beat Dundee Utd in the LC semi final at Tynie that year and like the 2016 SC semi final against United, they were entitled to feel "robbed"

Since they last won it, they’ve bothered turning up at Hampden twice to try again. Twice in 60 years.

In the same time we’ve been there on 10 occasions, winning 3.

A fair few of the other 7 still annoy me, but at least we’re giving it a decent shot.

An honourable mention for Aberdeen too who have gone 32 years without winning the Scottish cup. Another big huge massive club.

It is now officially over 60 years since Hearts have won the league cup 27/10/1962.It was during the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis ,so with minds elsewhere, nobody bar them even noticed.

Takes ye back though to a time when the guy behind you on the terracing would use your feet as a urinal and a guy would come down the terracing gangway selling rotting toffee apples out of a cardboard box.!

Happy Daze!!

Sadly for us them not winning the League cup might be an irritation but we all know that they have a banker game to trump that fact,

It's soon to be 2023. That game is now as relevant as 0-7 and 6-2.

The PBS is full of Trumps and bankers.
