No doubt a fair number on here enjoy David Squires' football cartoons but I thought today's particularly worth highlighting: https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2022/oct/04/david-squires-on-going-to-the-match-2022-ls-lowry

(The context is here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/sep/14/lowrys-going-to-the-match-expected-to-fetch-8m-at-auction)

Not as funny as usual (although the pavement dancers and the matchstick cats/matchstick dogs half-and-half scarves got a good laugh), more just deeply depressing. We're insulated from some of the worst of it in Scottish football but no doubt it will eventually, er, trickle down.

Thankfully we are spared from a lot of the ills of modern football that has blighted the English game, but some of that cartoon certainly rings true.

It amazes me when I see those prices quoted for a Lowry as you can still get Lowry originals relatively cheap. As a painter he was prolific so there is a lot of his stuff out there.....a lot of crap to be fair but the name gives them some value. I do wonder how much of the value of his work is down to Brian and Michael.
