Apologies if this is covered on another thread but I've just realised that the U19s are playing at Easter Road on Wednesday and thought I'd post in case others hadn't seen that it was on, hopefully a chance to see them extending their time in Europe! Would be great to see a good support for the boys.

It’s 4/1 to win in 90 minutes
11/1 for -1
28/1 for -2

Brilliant, they will be loving the backing from behind the goals too. Can anyone put in context the achievement for that age group have we been to this stage in recent years or breaking new ground here. Really enjoyed that tonight, a great atmosphere and a spirited performance from the laddies considering the size difference in some of them.
The end scenes as well were brilliant, it will no doubt be a night they all remember for the rest of their lives regardless of how far they go in the game.
A proper feel good night for any Hibs fan I think.

Some excellent performances tonight, well done boys, fitting that Oscar Mcintyre scored the winning penalty, looks a great wee player, singing section impressive, got to be a serious option going forward, creates a great atmosphere behind the goals.

Well done the young team. I actually thought we were the slightly better team up to the last 15 minutes when Malik Zaid was subbed. I thought he was excellent, covered every blade of grass and defended from the front.

Will the home leg be 2nd November? I work Wednesday nights but I’m off that night so hoping it’s the away leg first.

Some of the young guys lived their dream out there this evening. Dyed in the wool Hibs fans like McIntyre, O’Connor and Laidlaw to name three that I know are from big Hibs families.
The game itself, Molde were prob the bigger and better team overall but we showed great character.
Glad to get it right up their number 33 at the end!
Really? I thought Hibs were the better side and would have been a travesty if we had lost that.

Aiken, Zaid and Oscar were excellent. In Oscar we already have a player ready to start getting some game time for the first team.

I think the next step for Oscar at least will be a development loan second half of season or next season.

Agree with this. MacIntyre looked superb but I really liked the look of Aiken.
Aiken was McGinnesque at times. Put a bit of weight on his backside then he'll be the real deal.

They were certainly bigger and some looked a good bit older than U19. Better? It maybe looked like they could be better potentially with some very nice passages of play, but they weren't better overall on the night. A one-goal margin was about right methinks. Not sure it would have been a travesty had we not gone through but certainly a huge disappointment after such a tremendous performance.
The UEFA website is very good. Shows all teams in draw and has a text commentary on last night's game. My real gripe is with the logic of the competition. If your top team is in the group stage of the Champions' League then your U19 team automatically qualifies for the group stages of their tournament, regardless of their ability or league placing. Celtc finished bottom of our league but are in group stages. Meanwhile despite us winning the league in a canter we have to go through qualifying rounds. IMO all this does is perpetuate the current hierarchy. If UEFA are serious about growing the game wouldn't it be better to reverse this process, ie if you win your national league then you go into group stages with qualifying rounds for those teams who are riding on the coat tails of the top team. Now many of the current teams will continue to go into group stages but at least it would then be on merit rather than the status of your club.

Cant disagree with anything there. Agree with every word a complete nonsense Celtic get into group stage. Just perpetuates the inequality and favours the bigger teams

I thought our route was easier? We play 2 rounds and if we win both we play a second placed team from the groups in a play off.The winners of that tie then go into the last 16 with the winners from the groups

I didn't know that but I'm not sure it makes it any easier. I think I'd rather have 6 (I'm assuming) league games where you have a bit wriggle room rather than 3 straight knock outs. Its an interesting format though.

Agree with you Ringo.
I appreciate Nantes will be very difficult, but a win gets us a game with a group runner up in the last 16
We will play that last 16 tie as a one off game, and it is at home.
I would have thought that was easier than groups v the elite !

Edinburgh direct to Nantes with Ryanair but it’s Monday there and back Friday for the Nov 2nd date.
If it’s away first then there’s definitely some good options and even the Wednesday flight should get you to the game on time.

Aiken was excellent, Zaid is tenacious on stilts. Blaney brings back memories of a younger Porto. McIntyre was outstanding 2nd half.
This team is interesting. SFA performance school under Keith Wright is clearly part of the story but there’s an interesting East Lothian angle with at least 4 of the starting 11 from the county. Josh clearly has the pedigree but Laidlaw, Megwa and Hastie all also former East Lothian schools. East Mains effect finally starting to come through :greengrin

Edit - just checked with a Belter pal. He did go to school in Belterland for his final exam year.

Did a business return leg a few years back Nantes to Paris by train, airport bus, then Paris - EDI flight and it was easy. Just checked and it's 2'37" for the train journey.
