Just watched the Arbroath vEast Fife game and paid special attention to Balde who is on loan from Hibs at East Fife There is a player there. I know he is not nearly first team standard yet but watch for this boy.

I would right wing half. Just behind the strikers. Scotty Alan showed some nice touches but only in flashes but sorry to hear from some Arbroath fans he is acting Billy Big Baws in the dressing room and Arbroath have lost some players due to this. Seems he is on £2,000 a week which has caused some problems with the rest of the squad.

I watched him in the Lowland League a lot last year and he looks a decent enough player.

Issue is he is already 21 and is still only a prospect on loan down in League Two. I think he'll carve out a career for himself, I'm just not convinced it will be at Hibs.

The 2 I'm convinced will be 1st team players at Hibs in the not too distant future and Johnson and Megwa.

What do you think to the Arbroath goalie?

I always think these borderline players depend on good management and timing. I'm convinced Fraser Murray could have been a baller for us if it wasn't for a broken leg and managerial turnover.

i have watched him loads for the development team, he is very good technically, and quite strong, his best position however is definitely central midfield , possibly defensive midfield.👍🏻

It was the reserve goalie in goals for Arbroath. Did not have much to do but looked very confident in what he did. Was disappointed to see Tate was sitting in the stand with an injury Was looking forward to seeing him The Arbroath commentator did say the first choice goalie was excellant

Is Arbroath's 1st choice keeper still Derek Gaston?

He was very good when at Morton when we were in the Championship. I'm sure he's also a goalkeeping coach for Rangers academy.

He’s a friend of mine (and good Hibby), delighted to see him get a cup game start. Unfortunately he’s behind a v good keeper.

Cammy coaches my boy and I can’t speak highly enough of him.

Pleased to hear he started today. Still young for a goalie so hopefully breaks into the team permanently.

Pal of mine was at the game. Said Scott Allan looked like he was having a blast toying with the East Fife midfield.

Always thought Balde was a high energy centre mid?

Interesting he’s playing wing back now.

Loads of young players on our books so hopefully a couple make the break through.

21 seems quite old to be playing at that level if he's going to be in our first team at some point

Yeah I would suggest that a 21 year old that we signed nearly a year ago, has yet to play a game for our first team and who has been sent on loan to a League Two side is probably unlikely to make it with us.

Especially when he's gone to East Fife for the season and his contract with us only runs to the end of this season, although I realise we have an option to extend his contract for 12 months.

Good luck to him though, it's good to hear he's doing well with East Fife.

Joao is a terrific player as I said before Gary Jardine had him playing in CM he has an eye for a goal too. He was training with the first team last season but could not play due still being a Strollers player “ we signed him then loaned him back” what I knew was he would have been on the bench last season under maloney if this was not the case
I don’t know what LJ thinks of him though

Seems like a sensible move. I wonder if this is the start of Johnson getting rid of a number of development team players that are taking up a wage, so that it can be reinvested in the first team. An interview he did a few weeks ago seemed to suggest this was on the cards.

The development team has not been used properly. The initial idea was games against English U23 teams which all fell through. Nothing else was arranged and put in it's place. A team in the Lowland league would have been a better idea, allowing the team to play every week.

A bridge between U18 and first team always seemed a good idea to me it's just not been used properly.

Agree. I doubt we'll see anything come of any of the punts we signed for the development team.

You said any penny not invested in the first team?

Surely you are not suggesting the under 18 is somehow aligned with the first team or am I totally missing something?

No issue with us having an academy. Big issues having a “team” of adults that aren’t even good enough to get on our bench right now. U18 players that are good enough should be bled into the first team squad. Just like all the other mid table teams in Scotland.

Would you prefer to wait until the 31st?The club, I'm sure, prefers early decisions
The players defo do
The fans of the club tend to be keen on early decisions
Fans of other clubs prefer the pain and dithering to be spread out.
