In the absence of any action, far less any comment, by the SFA, the SPFL or the Scottish Referees Association on Goodwin’s pre-match canvassing of the referee or inappropriate comments on the Ryan Porteous issue, can we now assume that open season on total free speech is now officially acceptable, possibly even encouraged at every Scottish football match in the immediate future. I would be astounded if any future comments or criticism by players, managers or referees is challenged. The authorities have stupidly opened up a hornet’s nest and have no grounds for any future comment, disapproval or punitive action.

Well said Jim. We would like to think that repercussions are pending but knowing Scottish football, perhaps not.

If it comes under the compliance officer's responsibilites then he probably doesn't give a toss as he's working his notice.

When you consider Paul McGinn got a ban for saying the ref was inept yet Goodwin gets off Scot freee for calling a player a cheat and admitting trying to influence the referee pre-match.
