I don't think the 61 nationalities will include trialists although I could be wrong. I think it will just be competitive first team games only which would also remove the Philippines as I think the only player we've ever had from there was Yrick Gallantes who never made a first team appearance.

It's still not quite independent, it's a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and has a similar status as Scotland.
However on reflection as Scotland will be counted as one of the 61 nations Curacao probably will be included so that's 52.

Joneleit will be classed as German and Feruz was on the list earlier but I'm pretty sure he'll be considered Scottish.
Fairly certain East Germany won't be considered differently to Germany and Kuqi will almost certainly be considered to be from Finland as opposed to Kosovo (or Yugoslavia) since he played 62 times for them.

I imagine it is only including players who have made a first team appearance so I don't think Yrick Gallantes will be included.
Didn't consider that it may include the women's team, if so that may explain why we're a few short. Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the women's team so I'll need the help of others if that is the case.

I wouldn't have thought they would have had many from countries that aren't included in the men's list. I think the majority of their foreign players are/were American.
There's an article from a few years ago in the EEN stating we had 54 nationalities represent us but it is very poorly put together, consisting of photos of players that often don't actually state what country they play for or are from. It does seem to be counting Gallantes with the Philippines and the very small 'nations' that aren't really nations, though.
https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/latest-hibs-news/54-countries-have-produced-players-hibs-548957
The only other thing I can think of is they are counting more than one country for certain players, e.g. Orman with the Austria/Bosnia/Nigeria eligibility.

Tom Soares - Barbados
Born in England and played for England at youth level.
His brother played for Barbados but I don't think that will be enough to qualify him.

Nelom Surinam

Both Congos have been included.
Nelom (Surinam) and Stephens (Guyana) keep being suggested but Nelom's Dutch and Stephens was born in England but played for Wales at youth level.

He's from Kosovo in today's world but again it's not technically an independent nation.
It would be interesting if Hibs could list the 61 nationalities with some examples next to each nation.
I thought Kosovo was an independent nation nowadays?

Think we had a young lad from Iran a few seasons ago. Not sure if you need to have played a first team game or represented the club at any level.

Shana Haji - I'm fairly sure he won't count as he never made a first team appearance.

Based on the full list, can anyone reverse engineer the criteria regarding first-team appearances, countries that might not be countries etc?

Amazing cosmopolitan world wide list, although there was also the wee left winger from Paraguay struggling to remember his name but think it was "****edifaknow"

Personally disagree with the inclusion of;
Guadeloupe (part of France and not a member of FIFA)
Liberia (Nohan Kenneh played for England at youth level)
Libya (Malik Zaid has never played for our first team)
Philippines (Yrick Gallantes never played for our first team)
Somalia (Islam Feruz played for Scotland at youth level)
Yugoslavia (Not a country by the time Kuqi and Orman played for us and they both represented Finland and Austria respectively)

I didn't realise that Matty Jack was an Ossi*, from Leipzig.
You learn something new every day
* An 'Ossi' is an East German.

Kenneh and Feruz were born in those countries so no issues with me including them. I'd wager a lot of the England born players who play for Scotland would still call themselves English, just the qualify to play for Scotland so the choose to do so

I think they're going by the country they were born in, like the aforementioned Matty Jack.
However, as both of them actually played for other countries, I tend to agree with you.
