Good to see the Sticky Buns getting rammed up them tonight.
Anyone think the weegie sisters will get less decisions when it's started in the league?

Yes. Dodgy decisions will be much harder to justify. VAR won't be good for Rantic.

Heard on BT last night that since VAR came in juventus have had the most decisions go against them in Serie A and that previously they were known for getting all the honest mistakes. Hopefully the same will happen here but i very much doubt it!

Did you see the goal they had disallowed on Sunday though, shocker!

That makes sense and I hope the same happens here.
It feels like the reason those 2 always get the “honest mistakes” up here is because the refs are terrified to make a mistake that goes against them.
I’m hoping that VAR means that refs will be more confident to make decisions as they know they have the fallback of getting another look at it.
For example - if a Hibs player gets brought down in the box and the ref is 60/40 sure it’s a penalty, currently the ref might bottle it. With VAR, surely he will give it with the knowledge that if he is wrong, VAR will correct it?
That’s my hope anyway [emoji23]

The dodgy decisions will continue to be made, VAR will do nothing because it'll be operated by the same incompetents and the usual ugly sister apologists will find a way to justify it.

Spot on
They will find something in the build up in the lead up to play if we score , I think their was a game last season Man utd V aston villa where villa scored , They spent 5 minutes trying to justify it being offside ...It was onside so they took the phase of play back and gave a free kick on Maguire
Var won't help teams in Scotland bar the old firm , It will still be corrupt officials making the decisions i'm afraid

It's not going to be the great leveller folk might hope for because it's controlled by the same cheats who give them everything. Offside excluded, if there's a decision that benefits them it'll go to VAR. If it benefits their opponent, like the penalties last night, it just won't get reviewed. "Not clear and obvious" it'll be.

All VAR will do is hold up the action and make our game even duller than it is already. The same teams will win everything and the worst teams will still get humped.

If will be like Sportscene..highlight the injustices to the Old Firm and Hearts and ignore everything else.
Ryan Porteous puts in a tackle form behind, but gets the ball first and takes the man after..Red Card....We appeal....result..longer ban
Rangers thug takes a Knee high swipe at Martin Boyle from behind with the ball 10 yards away...Red Card..They appeal..result..reduced to yellow.
It's a fix and it always will be

The fact VAR is coming in up here utterly depresses me, we don't have enough cameras at games as it is. There will still be wrong decisions it will just be even worse now as they will have held up the game for 5 minutes before making this it and it will piss the fans off even more than even when "aided" with VAR they still come to the wrong conclusion.

:agree: When you're in the stadium, the delay waiting for VAR spoils the whole event for me. Time drags like being in the dentists chair or in a queue at Boots Cameron Toll. 3 minutes seems like 10. I think a lot of people clamouring for VAR don't have experience of it so dont know how much it changes the experience. And no ****er knows whats going on at the best of times, and with Scottish standard of PA systems and cameras? I'm not confident.

:agree:
VAR has its place in the tourist league where the majority watch from TV and there's more financially on the line so it needs to be more accurate.
Scottish football, I'd rather they kept the jeaprody and spontaneity of live decisions that typically can't/won't then be overturned. The sterile nature of that will surely creep in to the game as it becomes more learned than you need the camera's nod of approval for each goal before you should celebrate - players and fans.

This is what will happen they will be looking for reasons not to give goals when teams score against the gruesome twosome . They won't place the same scrutiny on their goals though.
The principle behind VAR was not for this approach but rectifying obvious mistakes. Alan Shearer has been vocal about how this isn't the case in England and they analyse the play and disallow goals for the minor stuff that used to pass refs by.

It is also slowly robbing the game of its excitement, last minute winner ruled out for a hand brushing against the defenders back. Goal disallowed for a robust challenge in the build up.

Goal line technology is definitely long over due - but VAR lite will be rubbish until they actually show live replays at the stadium and give the ref a microphone to explain decisions.

Goal allowed after being given offside. Penalty given after the ref saying no.
