Called up for the Australian squad.

Well played. Just shows what you can do if you take a risk and try a new approach to your career

Imagine he makes it to Qatar!

He could be the face of the world cup, dressed as an arab and wrestling a camel or something.

Good for him, turned it right around.

Although I'd argue him taking a risk was why his career stalled. Should never have left Hibs.

Well done.

A player who would be well worth us having a look at if he ever became available.

With Boyle involved too they'd be the team for Hibs fans to follow.

Well done to him, does anyone know how he qualifies as I know his immediate family and don't know of any Australian connection, unlike Boyle who's dad is from Oz.

He's got an Australian passport, so one of his parents must be Australian I'd imagine.

Reports on his call up state his mother is Australian.
Apparently this was coming as Jason had talks with Oz manager a couple of years a ago,but covid stalled any progress.
Going to Australia and playing well rekindled interest,i suppose.
If he is enjoying life and his football in Oz and has relatives/new pals there, dont see him returning to Scotland in a hurry !!
He and Martin will certainly keep the Socceroos dressing room lively:greengrin

I wasnt really looking forward to Quatar,as it still riles that corrupt fifa awarded that Country the tournament.
But i am now with the Hibs connection .
Need to practice on my didgeredoo for Oz games !

Never really understood the grief Cummings gets.

The Rangers stint was unfortunate but no professional player froze out in England was going to turn that chance down. The paedo stuff is just dire 'banter'.

I've said it before but football players need to be ruthless and make some tough decisions. Cummings could have stayed in Scotland, surrounded by his mates and become a bit of a journeyman. He's tried soemthing different, found a lifestyle that suits him and allows him to focus on his football and he's now got every chance of going to a World Cup.

Good on him.

Pleased for Cummings but do think that any praise should be tempered by the fact that Australia are a bang average team. And they are toiling for quality up front clearly.

The standard of the A League is pretty awful.

Great to potentially be going to a World Cup nonetheless.

Yep absolutely horrific needs shouted down at every opportunity.

A cup winning legend plain and simple.

Couldn't agree more. Will always be loved by me - cup winning legend and absolutely loved scoring against the Hearts. Deserves nothing but appreciation from Hibs fans and I wish him all the best.

From Hibs fans I think the only stick he's really had has been that he seemed to go off the rails when he went to England. Being a "character" and causing issues, is fine if your scoring goals and in the team, but from memory (please feel free to correct me) but some of his antics when not getting a game down south were pretty embarrassing. I think the vast majority of Hibs fans are pleased to see him playing football and scoring goals. The sad thing is that getting away from his childhood pals seems to be a very good thing.

:agree:

Likewise I think the criticism his ability used to attract while at us was laughable. Cracking player when he was here.

Only negative from a Hibs point of view, is Boyle is potentially playing in New Zealand on Sunday 25th September
A long trip back before Hibs play Ross County the following Saturday

Getting stick is one thing.
Being called a child molester is on another level.
Disgusting word to shout at players.

I mind when someone called Jimmy O'Rourke a papish barstewrd
He didnt know our brother Billy was behind him.
You can guess what happened next.

The guys shouting Peado at players deserve to,at least, be called out.
And am being kind!

A more mature Jason than many will remember has played very well out here.

But, he isn’t in the World Cup squad yet.

He will get the opportunity to play himself into it this month when the Oz coach plays a team of ‘hopefuls’ in one of the two ‘farewell’ games against New Zealand later this month.

Jason won’t be the only striker trying to play himself into the WC squad, and will need to put in a super shift to make the final squad.

Fingers crossed.

If he doesn't make the team I'm sure he'd be happy to don a kangaroo costume as mascot.
