What’s with the “ make some noise “ comment before KO ?
Me thinks he’s doing it for a bet wi a jambo.
Anyone else noticed it ?

Noticed what? A stadium announcer encouraging the fans to make some noise?

I think Barry’s had more to worry about last week than any bets with people. Not sure why it would be a bet anyway. He says that a lot of memory serves me. Mind you I doubt my memory more then ever nowadays!

Is it not fairly standard Stadium Announcer stuff to encourage fans to make noise?

More likely your post is a bet with a Jambo!

The only complaint I have about the announcer on Saturday was the timing of his attendance announcement.

Not the best when one of your players is bearing down on goal.

First noticed it at the hertz game ,always associated it to Scott Wilson & the PBS .Maybe put 2+2 together & thought loser uses the other teams phrase for a few games.

Spot on Keith, it was distracting for the fans holding their breath in anticapation as well.

Bit silly if he's not watching what's happening on the park at the time to be honest.

:agree:

It might seem like a small matter but I think the announcements need to be at appropriate times during the game, e.g. maybe a lull when the ball's went out of play.

Barry tweeted:

“SPFL delegate ensuring we hit all our timings correct, board goes up we have to announce the ball was in our own half when announcement is made. I’ll take the blame though”

I don’t think it was the attendance. I’m sure it was how much added time we were to play

Hey everyone,

Defo no bets with any of the manky mob. The make some noise is something we have said for years. If there an objection to it we can change it. I tend not to pay too much attention to the cowshed.

Attendance is always announced in the 85th minute (there are no restrictions or guidelines on this) always try to make this when the ball is out of play.

Man of match is announced around 87th minute.

Saturday, the announcement of the added time was announced as soon as the board went up (as it is everytime with stoppage). The SPFL have a delegate at every match and this week he was ensuring every single thing was ticked off requirement wise. Announcing the stoppage when the board goes up is one of those. Unfortunately, the ball was in our half as we were about to break when the board went up. I can’t wait to announce it because “5 minutes additional time” two minutes after the board goes up can cause confusion within the stadium and with coaches and playing staff who may not necessary be looking at the board when it goes up. That leads to more problems.

We are trying to be the example of how things are done. Our match production plays to that. We also have the introduction to VAR coming which ads more to our match days. (I’ll keep updates and answer questions where I can with this as always).

Hope this helps answer some questions.

Keep up the good work Barrie. And if what you say winds the jambos up then even better. Absolutely no issue from this Hibs fan.

Spot on Barrie, cheers.

‘Manky mob’ 🤣🤣

Regarding the MOM, would this not be better announced after the match? A lot could happen between 87 and FT.

👍 the notion that saying “make some noise” should be changed because of hearts is totally ridiculous. No case to answer on any of the above.

Do the attendance and man of the match need to be announced? Could we just not put them up on the big screens?

How is man of the match decided ?

Is it a single sponsor deciding or a few votes ?

Just as as aside, any chance you could play "Give us a goal" by Slade as the teams come out? Cracking 70s football terrace type chant for us oldies to enjoy...

Oh aye and if you can play this can you play it LOUD?

We still need to cater for those who cannot see the screens, such as those who are visually impaired.

Usually when motm is announced there are still a few minutes left to play.
I await the game when motm scores an og or gets a red card in the last minute!
A bit like waiting on you playing The Holy Ground song :greengrin

I don’t understand about the additional minutes announcement though… surely announcing ‘five minutes added on’ means the clock will run to 95 mins regardless? It’s not five minutes added from the moment you announce it!

The stadium clock stops at 90 though, so if it was announced as 5 minutes at 92 then I could see where the confusion could come from.
