Damaged ligaments in his shoulder and out for at least a couple of months.

Not good news. Could do with a loan signing now.

Wonder if we will sign a keeper or just recall Murray Johnson. Airdrie fans have been waxing lyrical about him on Twitter. One describing him as the best keeper he has ever seen in that league.

Hopefully a speedy recovery for Kevin.

Was thinking the same, can’t see the club taking the risk though.
They’d be slaughter for it as soon as Johnson made a mistake or it Marshall/Johnson then got injured.

Cheap back up on loan I’d imagine

I’m sure he was just on an emergency 1 month loan anyway.
Sounds like an able substitute from the reviews so far.

Zander clarke

Please no.

He's a decent keeper but I just have this completely bizarre irrational dislike of him. The daft beard and him doing a knee slide then and giving the bairns in the FF Lower a GIRFUY after St Johnstone scored a late equaliser against us is about all the reasoning I have.

I just really, really don't like him though.

Obvious choice for back up goalkeeper? He’d command a significant wage for someone who’ll probably (hopefully) play 0 minutes for the first team.

Completely overrated goalkeeper is Zander Clarke. There’s a reason he still without a club. And yeah, a very irritating face too.

This. One decent season and a goal v sevco and he's getting like mad.

PS If we did sign him,I could change my mind !

Think Clark end up at Hearts at least short terms if they are concerned about Gordon managing all the games coming up

Statistically he was the top keeper in the league on the expected saves matrix. I thought he was overrated too but he does have some stats to back him up.

I doubt Zander Clarke would come here as number 2, maybe get a player in on a short term loan until Jan?

Clark would be a brilliant second choice keeper, but financially I imagine it makes very little sense.

Especially as he would be cover for a short period until Kevin is back.

If Murray Johnson is doing well enough that he’s getting public praise from the airdrie manager, 3 sheets out of 4 and pulling off stunning one handed saves from Connor Sammon, and he’s only 17…

I’d recall him.

A chance at what? Sitting on the bench doing nothing? Of our own Dabrowski is injured and Johnson is getting regular game time on loan.

Makes sense not to recall him to sit on the bench if he's playing games and doing well.

I think from a development angle it would be better to leave him to play in competitive games, at a decent level, rather than have him sitting on the bench and not getting the game time.

He's only 17 and will have plenty of opportunities to be backup keeper / future 1st team keeper at Easter Road if he continues to progress at the rate he has.

Suppose any recall will depend on if the board want to spend additional outlay for a short term stand-in keeper or not?

He did but that was from Dundee after he had fallen out with Neil McCann.

I don't see him giving up his wage at Celtic to come and sit on our bench.

On loan for the rest of the season. 22 yrs old played a few games at Livy on loan and played 30 odd games for Udders. Played at various levels in the England set up. Csnt recall seeing him play but has decent credentials.

That would’ve been the ideal solution whilst strengthening the position at the same time.
Can’t imagine Clarke is commanding big money.

If he wasn’t commanding big money he’d have got himself a new team by now, he’s holding out for his last big pay day.

Surely we will recall Murray Johnstone, great tall athletic young keeper, great experience being on the bench, and playing for the development team.

Better experience than starting every week for a senior team?

I don’t think the two positions are mutually exclusive. Clark obviously thinks he is worth more than clubs are willing to pay him.

It’s a difficult one. Depends what value you place on being in a match day environment with your teammates, around that big crowd, and the possibility of a start at any time in case of injury etc as a #2. Balanced against the experience he’s getting with Airdries first team in a lower league. I don’t think it’s clear and obvious either way.

I think it’s fairly clear that playing football is better for development than not playing football.
