Hibs had this guy on loan, can’t remember how many games he played for us, but he was rapid, and scored some absolutely brilliant goals straight from the start, for about 6 weeks.
The loan was terminated mid season and he signed for Celtic.
YOUAN i think is fantastic, please tell me this can’t happen again.

Sure we signed him on a short term contract 6 months or so. Celtic paid us something like 50k.

Don't think this is a similar situation at all.

Agatha was something weird like a 3 month deal, then duly signed for Celtic.

Youan is ours for a season minimum.

Was Agathe not signed on a short contract (3 months?) after he left Raith?

Haven’t we got a loan to buy arrangement for him?

If so, he’s hopefully ours for the long term.

Yes, was only 3 months. He’d been with Raith for quite a while, too- just really kicked on after his move to el Leith San Siro.

0-0 derby at Tynecastle on the opening day of the season IIRC. Did the hard part then scuffed his shot. It was on target but rolling so slowly a defender had time to get back and clear.

Scored an absolute cracker shortly after that v Dundee I think.

In fact, here it is:

Don’t think he beat any outfield players, thought he’d showed incredible pace to beat the keeper to an under hit pass back, but similarly he under hit his effort on goal and was cleared off the line. My memory of Tynie that day was it being pretty scorching, dry pitch probably played a part in the pass back and effort on goal.

That’s how I remember it, but may we wrong.

He had only been at Raith for a season.

Can't believe he was only given a short term deal when he signed for Hibs as far worse players have been given far longer deals.

Agathe ripped up the SPL

Totally different gravy

Do not understand McLeish’s reluctance to have an early discussion with Agathe and his advisers similar to the one he had with Latapy

On his initial short term contract Martin O’Neill could see what we could see successfully converting him into an attacking wing back

At the end of the day Agathe was a mercenary and had no allegiance to Hibs

It is the same in any occupation but madness not to get him on a longer term contract

Aye, did he not do it when scoring a late equaliser at Aberdeen? Was a proper target man, with a phenomenal scoring ratio when fit.

Was at that game, iirc it happened right at the end of the game and Killen was lying on the pitch when everyone else were trooping off the park, nobody came to help him. Think all the medical staff had already left. Remember being really angry at how long it took to realise he was down and injured.

I’d argue that Celtic wasted Agathe playing him there. Sure he was successful, but I think he’d have had a much more successful career had they played him up top. Similar to Scott Brown. Had a successful career there but converting him to a defensive midfielder? He was dynamite further forward and Celtic curbed his attacking instincts imo.

Only scored 11 goals in 183 appearances for the Hoops but it could be argued he was never going to be a starter upfront with Larsson Sutton and Hartson obvious shoe ins but his fast attacking direct approach gave them an out and always ensured Celtic were on the front foot his pace and attacking instinct being an obvious asset

Big mistake by Hibs not to tie him down

Fondly remembered by hoops fans as an attacking wing back doubt he can remember being here :greengrin

Celtic probably prolonged Scottie’s career moving him further back and agree a tad too early as he was dynamite as a box to box midfielder the 3-0 Sproule game at Ibrox an obvious example

4m was a fair price at that time

Here's Agathe's goal against Dundee, brilliant goal, he was fouled loads of times and still scored.

https://youtu.be/QetdkEYQ-0A

If I remember correctly, he was about to sign a new contract with Hibs (I think Alan Preston was his agent actually) when his girlfriends family urged him to sign for Celtic and another agent appeared and arranged his move to Celtic. Pity, he was a great player in the short time he was with us.

Agree with this the ba seemed to stick with these guys and they brought others into play

Another striker maybes before your time who was a different shape entirely but always seemed to receive the ball with his back to goal but had the knack of turning and shooting all in the one movement scoring 58 goals in 91 appearances was Joe McBride Snr
