View Full Version : Today's REF

Poor performance from him today. 2 or 3 penalty decisions went against us imo that once VAR is up and running would have been given. Their winning goal came from a ludicrous award of a free kick. Same sub standard performance from our whistler today unfortunately imo. We should have won that game today with the chances we created simple.
Not excusing the defeat but wondering if I was watching the same game as the ref was today ?

Can’t comment on todays ref as I missed the game but when was the last time we picked up points courtesy of poor refereeing? These thing are supposed to even themselves out over a season so we are told.

Effing useless I thought Porto was going to stick one on the useless hun.

Whilst the ref alone never cost us the game today, it must be said the penalty on hanlon at the corner is as stonewall as it gets. Just where do they find these guys?!

Disappointing result but not going to get too down about it. The game was wide open in the last 20 minutes and it could have gone any way.
Even Celtic and the Rangers struggle at Livi and it's not an easy place to get points.
Our central midfield needs major surgery though and is the biggest obstacle to us progressing this season.

I don’t have any complaints about him to be honest.
Don’t think we should have got a pen.
Think Cabraja did foul Devlin for the goal. Both went up innocent enough, Devlin got there first and Cabraja has went into him causing him to fall? It’s a foul for me every day of the week.
Edit - Completely forgot about the Hanlon one, looked a pen to me on first viewing as defender dragged him to the ground.

Our central midfield needed major surgery at the end of last season. The fact that it’s not been dealt with despite bring in a raft of players is concerning to say the least.

What was that all about?! He clearly sees it and the ball had been swung in. As clear a penalty as you'll see but he makes us take the corner again? Useless prick.

This is nonsense. Cabraja is waiting on the ball coming down. Devlin runs, jumps into Cabraja and a free-kick is given.

Sorry but this is nonsense. For a start Cabraja doesn’t even go “up”. So your explanation of why the foul is given is flawed before you have even got going.
Genuinely one of the worst decisions I have seen in a long time.

I thought it was never a free kick for their winner. Ref was terrible, like he’s watching a different game at times.

You get those fouls all the time now, you see it time and time again when a player gets there first and the other one can’t/doesn’t even have time to move. There’s a collision and it goes in favour of the attacker who got to the ball first.
The view I had looked like Cabraja went up for the ball, not a full jump but tried none the less and never got it.
Other way about and we’re wanting a foul imo.

What do you mean by winning the ball?
I can't recollect if it bounced off him as he jumped into Cabraja. Does the ball bouncing off you mean you get a free kick? If so, please excuse my ignorance of the rules of football.

Devlin won the ball though.
Won the ball by absolutely levelling Cabraja! It's a Hibs free kick every day of the week and probably in every other league with semi competent refereeing. What was Cabraja supposed to do?

On the replays, I saw Cabraja watching the ball as he waits for it to come to his feet. He makes no movement towards the bounding Devlin.

I’ll need to see it again but my view was he sort of leaned into it, regardless of what he did or didn’t to he never had the time for it to come to his feet and Devlin got to the ball first.

I cannot remember if Devlin touched the ball but, if he did, then the least he should have had the right to expect was play-on.

Never a foul in a month of Sundays, the ref seen the Livi guy on the floor and with his natural hun tendencies he gave the foul to Livi, he was on the ground long enough to make sure he got the free kick.

You are not wrong with what you say - but it was never a foul. Livi man go to the ball first. He then collides into Cabraja. He hasn't fouled him though. Contact isn't a foul. That said, just a foul being awarded out wide doesn't mean you lose a goal. Ok, they got a foul - forget about it and defend the set piece. They scored because our defence on that play was awful

I just think the way football is now you always get a foul for that. You see it loads where defenders have zero time to move out the way, the forward runs into them and a foul is given. Just never surprised me that it was given.
100% agree about the defending of it.

50 50 ball both went for it Devlin wins the ball means probably a foul to Livi I think.

Their no 11 Montano should have beem red carded. Fouled Henderson minutes after being yellow carded. He was subbed shortly after which is telling.

Devlin does get the ball. But he also get Cabraja in the process. Knows exactly what he's doing but lands awkwardly. If it were along the ground it'd be the equivalent of winning the ball, straight leg studs up.

If Doidge jumps for the ball and levels the Livi fullback do we expect the FK?
I doubt it, and there is no way that should have been a fk to Livi, ludicrous imv.
Should be said, we had something like 6-7 consecutive corners at one point early in the 2nd half and did diddly squat with them.
Livi get one fk, pop it into the box and theres a goal - pathetic.

Think you maybe need to see it again man, there's nothing at all Cabraja does that could be considered a foul.

The movement Devlin made meant that he would have never have emerged from the situation:
1. on his feet
2. with the ball.
In that case the only option the the defender has in this type of situation is to vacate his position in order not to give a free-kick.

This is true. The referee didn't even speak to him.

How did Kelly 24 get away without a booking? 3 bad professional"challenges plus a foul when he'd been warned after the second challenge.

How often do you see ref’s awarding penalties for fouls against defenders at corners? It’s very rare, it’s an absolute cop out to blow the whistle for a foul to the defending team. All the obstruction, pushing, shirt tugging by Botha sides in these situations and 95% of the time it results in a free kick to the defending team. I hope VAR sorts this out but have my doubts.

We can but live in hope. Tbh id rather the ref had just given livi a fk rather than award a retake. The ball was in the air when the foul occurred and he didn't blow his whistle till after the goalie punched it. Just mental how hes come to that decision. Clear pen.
