Got to laugh that Boyle was cleared to play today (thank duck 😁). Does raise the question though, how come everyone elses clearance has taken so long?

Clearance is about a player's registration with a club - it's a thing between the relevant FAs to ensure that the player is clear to register with a new club.

Work permits are a legal requirement set by the UK government, a different thing. Boyle has a UK passport, so doesn't need work permit.

Although playing for Australia he's obviously a Scot :) and im guessing has a British passport. British national returning home im guessing makes the process quicker ?????

Everyone who doesn't have a British passport does

International clearance isn't anything like a work permit
