Huge fan of this. Let's injured players have somewhere slightly higher than youth football to play during the come back, out of favour players etc keep their fitness up and let's the young lads from every team experience playing against decent quality men before stepping up to the first team.

Can't see any downsides really.

Our Dev squad will have a fuller season than many first thought. Notice the Billy Big Baws trio are missing. No loss there.

Well, it would be if that were the only matches they were playing. However, as has been mentioned previously, they will also play good quality teams from England.

Surely the point of the league is to help players get extra games to keep fit rather than having a worthwhile league title?

That's 9 games vs decent standard men/boys that they wouldn't be playing without the reserve league. Any amount of games is worth it for them, this gives them something to look to try win.

9 league games, a reserve cup plus other games we have lined up in the 1875 invitational league. That should keep our development team active

There’s also 12 teams in the Reserve Cup so presumably there will be some sort of group stage involved in that.

Plus the younger members of the Dev Squad will be playing European fixtures which they’ll hopefully progress through.
