I mentioned on an other thread a couple of days ago that I was quite impressed with a few of the little and not so little changes made at ER over the summer and before to improve the look off the ground. The wall at the FF end has been removed and new barriers which look a lot tidier installed. The artificial turf around the pitch has been relaid and looks so much better and the addition of Hibs badges is very smart. Also the big screens showing Hibs content has been a welcome addition. All of those little renovations add to the feeling of the place being home.

One thing I have always wondered tHough is with so many worthy candidates why there has never been a decision made to rename any of the other stands at ER. Obviously the FF was an obvious choice but we are 30 years down the line from that now and as far as I'm aware there has been no move to do anything with the other stands. If Falkirk fans can campaign to have a stand named after one of their heroes surely there is the ability for Hibs fans to do the same if there was consensus.

So if there are 3 stands to rename who would you go for. As suggestions come in I'll add a poll. For me:

West - Tom Farmer Stand
East - Pat Stanton Stand
South - David Gray Stand

The way things are going, I wouldn’t be surprised if we were close to having a “utilita stand” or an “Eden mill stand”.

Player naming wise tho, hard to disagree with your suggestions. The lawrie Reilly stand has a nice ring to it tho.

Hard to disagree with any of those. STF should unquestionably get a stand named after him, hopefully before he passes away.

Wouldn’t be against us renaming any of the stands or stadium itself if it brings in money etc, wouldn’t change anything.

I wouldn’t be against David Gray one day getting a stand named after him but not whilst he’s still at the club and tbf I think he’d probably think similar

The Sir Tom Farmer stand has a nice ring to it!

Sir David deserves far better than the stand that houses the mutants that frequent our magnificent home every 2nd Saturday.

I love Lawrie but he is already represented by the Famous Five stand.

I would say one of the founders. Hannan or Whelahan. Without them there is no Hibs. Admittedly you could say the same of Tom Farmer.

the south stand seemed to be renamed "the whyte & mackay stand" around the time they started sponsoring our shirts. Cannot remember it being that.

SDG is obviously a legend for the winning goal, but I would be reticent for him to get that kind of accolade ahead of all others involved on that day.

SDG seems quite a modest guy to me and I guess he might feel the whole team from 21.5.16 should share the recognition so the Time For Heroes Stand would be my suggestion (think this name was suggested by someone else when this topic came up previously).

Always felt one of the stands should have been named "The McCartney Swan Stand"

Willie McCartney and Harry Swan, the two individuals who probably propelled the Hibs to greatness.
I would say they changed us from a mediocre club size wise to one of Scotland's biggest clubs.
Onwards and upwards - The Uk and then Europe.

If you are considering bestowing an honour then surely you have to look at the whole picture ?

I know you are joking but I've always thought naming HTC after Lewis is an idea for down the line.

He's the best example of making the most of your talent I can think of in recent times. I don't want to demean Lewis with 'he tries really hard' because that does him a disservice, he's an accomplished footballer. It's fair to say there are many more naturally talented players though. What Lewis has done though is squeeze every bit of talent he has out and maximised through dedication and work ethic.

That should be an example any young players wants to follow.

And unlike the other great players mentioned above, the only player in the last 100 years to win both cups with us.

When Willie McCartney sadly and suddenly died during his time as manager , Hugh Shaw took the reigns and is Hibernians most successful manager .3 league titles, 2 runners up, European Cup semi final.
He also played in a great Hibernian team in the 1920s.
Swan divided the support over a number of issues during his time at the club.
So am not knocking your choices though, but Hugh would get my vote before the other two. No disrespect to them.

The West Stand imo should be named after our founders or birthplace.
Its the "Main Stand" and recognition of our roots should be considered for it.

East Stand after Hugh Shaw (see above) the top of the old main terracing there funny enough was also known as Shaw's Heights.

Now The South Stand name is an easy one for me...
It would do me fine for some away fans (you know which ones ) to buy tickets for St Patrick's Stand :greengrin

I would like "HIBERNIAN FOOTBALL CLUB" signage on top of the east stand roof, similar to what Newcastle have. Lit up for night games
I'd also like to see the corners above the 2 big screens have banners from stand to stand and roof heights. Similar to what they have to cover scaffolding but showing Gray with the cup or similar. Neither would be overly expensive.

Don't mind the stands being named.would like to see a few statues/plaques around the stadium as well.

I also would have no problem with the stadium being renamed if the price was right

When (not if) I win the Euromillions I would happily pay for a corner stand to be built on the understanding it will be called the 'Henderson Corner'........actually you could build two of those :greengrin

Slightly off topic from renaming stands but is it still order at kiosks or is there the sort of boards you get at McDonald's, etc for ordering food and drink?

I don't buy food/drink at the stadium so I've never noticed if we'd upgraded to those yet.

Money no object? I would remodel with a retracting roof and a pitch that can be reversed. Proper indoor arena for concerts/gigs etc. Plus the benefits of playing football whatever the weather.

I've always thought we should do something to reference the fact we were first UK team to play in Europe. As the first contest was organised by the French newspaper L'Equipe - so how about the L'Equipe stand?

New modern green seating throughout the three older stands.
Simplest way to brighten and freshen up the appearance of the stadium.
Replace all the now decades old faded seats which are now of various shades of washed out green.
It's worked wonders at various grounds down south recently.

I would quite like them to simply wash the bird poo off the wall in front of the first row in the FF Upper. Its been there for years. In fact I might take some wipes and do it myself before the derby.

Nice dark green seats would look class, the current ones are more turquoise than green

I'm not too fussed about naming stands but all for "hibsing up" the stadium.

To our club's great credit the new hospitality areas within the West Stand are going to look absolutely great with our history, culture and pioneering absolutely central to the lounges.

I've seen a preview of what's to be delivered - it's very impressive indeed!

^^Thats good to hear.

I went on the stadium tour not long after the Cup win. It was great to see around the place but so much of it was pretty run down and tatty.

The press room for example, had news clippings around the wall from famous games or whatever. Nice idea, but they were straight on the wall with blu-tac like you did as a kid in your room. The paper was all yellow and faded etc.

Similarly, they have cool old stuff and trophies displayed in cheap IKEA cabinets!

I’d love to see it all tarted up, tastefully done.

If they ever do anything with the north/east corner I’d have a huge illuminated Hibs crest facing Hawkhill Ave.
