At least that's what LJ went out of his way to say here. Big praise and he wasn't prompted to praise Ian like this.

Maybe shut a few up desperate to have a go, or not, but felt this piece was worth sharing as it's a good read.

Nice to see he's got a class taste in Music as well👍

I saw that earlier. Quite a good read. There were obvious mistakes in the recruitment in the last couple of windows and it wasn't acceptable in my opinion. Happy to let him put it right. Quite excited about our signings so far this summer.

January 2022 signings were mainly good but injury curse continued ( Clarke and Mitchell ) and others were signed for long term but were rushed in cause of injuries . Selling Boyle at end of window followed by injuries to Nesbit and Clarke and then Mitchell ( and others ) made it very difficult for club . Hopefully we won`t have so many injuries to key players this season .

My thoughts exactly. Nobody knows whether our new signings are going to be any good. We can start dishing out praise once we see how things go

I think the article was about Johnson's opinion of working with Ian Gordon rather than stating everything is going to work out. Everything sounds harmonious which is good. In fact not just good but the exact opposite of what social media rumblings would have you believe.

It is a nice positive article.

If that's the case then equally there should be no criticism about the new signings until then.

:agree: With so many unknown quantities none of us know how it's going to turn out. The club, the Gordon's and Kensell still have a lot to prove after last season's shambles.

The proof of how good he is can only be measured by results and so far results have been pretty poor. Lets hope these new signings can cut it in the SPFL.

Whether Ian Gordon’s really good or not, I think it’s a smart thing for Johnson to come out and say.

Johnson will want to have everyone unified early on and will have picked up on a bit of grumbling surrounding Gordon jr. As he says, accusations of nepotism will be something he’s no doubt familiar with, and will be aware of how unpleasant and potentially damaging they can be.

So I’m very happy to have Johnson identify areas where division may occur and attempt to improve them. Yes, it’s early days but it feels a bit different to Lennon throwing players under the bus repeatedly or Ross questioning James Scott’s fitness publicly (which I think did Scott no favours whatsoever, albeit this was quite out of character from Ross).

If these signings are players identified by LJ then Ian does deserve praise for managing to get his targets.

Exactly where I’m at. They have provided no evidence over the last year that they can do a good job.

No, the proof of how good the manager is is measured by results. If IG brought in Messi, Mbappe and de Bruyne he'd have done an outstanding job, even if the manager couldn't convert that to wins on the park.

Really finding the Lee Johnson era refreshing.
His enthusiasm and obvious love for what he does is infectious.
His interviews go a bit deeper than most and I feel I have more insight into the machinations of being a Hibs manager than ever before. I appreciate his candor.
Soon we will see the beginnings on the pitch and I’m excited to see the development. GGTTH

Unfortunately it doesn't matter who recruits you can never guarantee they will be any good.

I’m not buying it. LJ is just looking for an early pay rise. For what it’s worth, I think IG should be burned at the stake. May as well take out Paddington Bear with a snipers rifle just to wind up Ron as well. Down with Peru and all who sails through her. And other stuff.

Works the same way with criticism as well. A few have said the signings are not good enough, too young etc! If it's OK to jump the gun and write the signings off, then it's OK to issue praise.

totally agree, although for some there’s never a good enough situation to give praise

Looking at club directory on website I notice there`s no email for recruitment department . This is maybe standard at all clubs as they don`t want to waste time reading thousands of emails recommending substandard players or joke recommendations from fans of other clubs . Still think it would be a good idea if fans could pass on player recommendations - we have fans all over the world and our present signing policy seems to be to catch talent early ( by age or at least before signed by clubs with more financial clout ) . When John Park was in charge of recruitment , club was certainly very open to ideas about signings . Realise that that was a long time ago now and Brexit may also have an effect when signing young Europeans ( presumably Elie Youan , Tavares have been signed without problems because they have Under 17/20 etc caps )

I’ll happily dish out praise. Based on results. We have no results yet so I’ve no idea whether praise or criticism is needed.

Doesn’t mean I’m not hopeful though

He's done well to get so many players in this early for LJ. Especially for the Portugal trip.
