Felt this deserves a thread of its own.

An absolute stalwart to the club & delighted he is staying to help mentor and bring on the next generation.

A bonafide club legend.

Maybe my favourite ever Hibs defender, those first few years he was brilliant for us, never let us down.

A beautiful man.

That’s it then, we won’t see him in the first team again.

He did absolutely fine for us, didn’t he? Best wishes for the next stage of his career.

The club aren’t daft, keeping him on the playing staff so he can appear in next years calendar 😍

Seriously though, should be a great mentor for Brydon, Blaney and McLelland and others.

Maybe wasn't with us as long as I'd have liked but still one of my all time favourite Hibbies / players.

Great guy to have around...

Absolute legend, exactly what you want from a Hibs defender, just wish we'd got him a couple years earlier than we did, he's a class defender.

I great mentor for the young lads. Wonder if we’ll register him as a player for emergencies

The article states he's moving into a player/coach role so I imagine he will still be eligible to play, albeit probably only in an emergency situation.

Wonderful servant to the club.

Delighted he has a confirmed coaching role.

Probably won’t play again but assume he will remain registered as emergency.

Legend get used to easily ect. He would go through a wall for hibs and I wouldn't fancy being the wall. Signing him at 30 and getting 188 games and a Scottish cup, that'll do nicely. Class defender

A word that’s chucked about far too much got my liking, but undoubtedly a modern day Hibs legend.

He's the perfect example of what we need from everyone at the club.

Love that man. Only regret is we didn't sign him earlier in his career. But still a club legend. He'd run through brick walls for Hibs

Brilliant news, didn't think I'd be so positive about a "non-new" signing!

Delighted he's staying here in a coaching role, Leeann knew what Hibs meant to Daz and Gray, hence the long contracts, I fully expect Lewis to be the next to turn to coaching when his time comes.

I think he'll be a development squad player only from now on, quite common now for clubs to have a veteran in with their development squads playing at that level as well as coaching, Brighton had Gary Dicker and Man United had Paul McShane last season. Would take an absolute emergency for him to play in the first team again I'd say.

Just the two stalwarts left from the cup winning team now.

Good that he's staying, and best wishes to him in his new role.

McGregor will be an excellent role model for the younger players given the problems he had early in his career.

Once saw him in Costco. I stared at him from about 20 yards away in complete awe.

Probably the closest I’ve ever come to getting a stauner over another man, if I’m being brutally honest with you.

Had the great pleasure of chatting to him early on in the pandemic. Great guy, no ego and will be excellent for the up and coming players

I can't quite figure out how he only came to be signing for St Mirren when he was just about to turn 25. All that early part of his career playing for Arniston Rangers and Cowdenbeath.

What was going on there? Was he just a late developer and not all that good back then?

He has been a superb player for us, and we'd probably wince if we reeled off some of the players who played in his position for Hibs when he was in his early twenties.

Up there with my favourite all time centre halves.

McGregor had serious injury problems when he was younger.

McGregor had serious injury problems when he was younger.

Were they not whilst he was at St Mirren though, after he’d made the breakthrough?

I may be wrong but I thought he seriously injured both of his knees in quick succession there?

Loved McGregor. He was a big part of why, for a period, we weren’t bullied in the derbies and we actually did the bullying. Having physicality is one thing but having the natural aggression to use it constructively is something we often miss in our players.

Still can't quite believe that he was the Player of the Year for The Rangers in our first year in the Championship, was let go by the Bread Man and Stubbsy snapped him up, scored the first goal on our way to winning the Scottish Cup
