International clearance is different than work permits. Work permits relate to the right to work in the UK while international clearance is a FIFA regulation. It’s essentially to ensure that a player moving registration between different international associations is free to do so. FIFA gives international associations up to 30 days to provide clearance.

Need at least 4/5 more signings I think. McGeady, striker, centre midfielder, centre back and Doig replacement if he leaves which is very likely.

Think this will definitely be our crest for our centenary season.
Lots of crests in England have been modernised or simplified in recent seasons. Not just to freshen up the brand but there are practical and commercial reasons for having a more simplified club badge. Even the Rangers have dropped the stars after so many years!
The Hibs crest is one of the more complex ones out there and and I can imagine Ben perhaps at least wanting to explore a less busy/complex crest.
Norwich City have rebranded their identity this summer but it would have been singed off a while ago, probably Ben played a big part in the process.

I would hope that the supporters would be consulted on any changes to the club crest, just like we were when the current one was introduced and one was chosen out of a list of several put forward by the fans.

For me the current crest perfectly represents everything related to the club's roots - ship for Leith, castle for Edinburgh, harp for Ireland, the ball for the fact we're a football club and the 1875 for when we were founded.

If there's going to be a change for our 150th anniversary then I'm not against it personally (although it would be a plain white top with a harp logo that we would wear to commemorate our 150th year rather than wearing the hoops which were introduced in 1876) but I would hope that this would be temporary unless the fans voted on a permanent change like we did last time.

Eyrie

Our colours have been long established as green body with white sleeves, which is why the green t-shirt effort a few years ago was deservedly reviled.

But for our 150th anniversary I wouldn't mind our original 1875 kit with a harp in place of the badge as the home kit, with our traditional green and white used as the away kit for one season only (preferably Famous Five style, although Tornados would be OK).

The hoops weren't our first strip. The firsts trip worn was a white Jersey. Why would we wear hoops to celebrate 150 years. Fine with the Harp but not the hooped strips

Edit.. didn't see the two posts above. 100% correct white strip with harp will be fine. No idea why folk want us to wear hoops.

Assuming you mean out the way as there’s no way we will be top 4 with a squad of 30 odd players. Can’t keep a squad that size happy and united. A couple of very good signings and then 10 out the door and we’ll be fine.

As others have mentioned, loving the mint green top too!

To be fair I don't think some of our 34 players will necessarily expect much game time to begin with;

Marshall
Macey
* Dabrowski
* Mitchell

McGinn
Porteous
Doig
Hanlon
Cadden
Stevenson
Bushiri
Miller
* Delferriere
* MacIntyre
Mitchell
* McGregor

Newell
Doyle Hayes
Campbell
* Tait
* Hauge
Magennis
Henderson
* Blaney
* Aiken
* Hamilton
Kenneh
* Mackay
Tavares

Nisbet
Doidge
Melkersen
* Bojang
* O'Connor

Players with asterisks will probably either be away on loan or happy with being a backup or making a few appearances from the bench. That takes it down to 21 players who will probably be expecting to be in the first team which is a bit more realistic and that's before you consider that McGinn, Macey, Doig and Porteous will all probably be away by the time the window shuts.

Fantastic measured response.

I love the current badge as it represents us all and the Harp is part of our history but does not represent our history as an Edinburgh football club

Looking good from the two pre season matches.

Seems a lot of effort has been put in to reconnect with fans over the period of pre season.

Communications have been very good so far, I wonder how much of that can continue into the mew season, of course it won’t matter if we are winning but it all helps.

Lets see what next week brings but with the teams we have in the group, they really aren’t anywhere near the level of quality we have faced today so should be topping that group with ease

He was sticking out a mile. Hard in the tackle, stroking the ball about and dictating play. I was impressed.

Manager indicated he round go out on loan Did he do enough to suggest he could be given a chance in cuo gsmes to see if he should be in B team and on bench for first team

sorry guys but, i didn’t think he was a stand out, i thought he done alright.
Connor young, looked a big strong unit.
But none of the players that played against Tranent looked ready for first team football yet.
We are playing Prestonpans Thursday, and that should be easier game.

Looks like a different player to the once we saw fleetingly last season.

Early days yet though.

He played 30 minutes over 2 games. Probably touched the ball about 10 times. Impossible to have judged him on that.

Its honestly insane we wasted so many minutes on guys we knew and gave these guys no starts at all last season.

No offence to Preston Athletic but this score underlines why the club are right to tread a different path with the development squad rather than joining the lowland league. With the exception of 2/3 teams, the standard in that league is not very good.

Massive difference to the EoS league which Preston Athletic play in compared to the Lowland League.

Balde balance, and reading of the game was different class.
Connor Young big strong lad, good finisher.
I enjoyed both games for the under 18, but Balde looks a better prospect than Tait.
Preston we’re poor so it’s hard to tell.

Opposition were poor tonight but still some impressive performances I thought. Connor Young certainly knows where the goal is and that second goal was a great move. The left back Macintyre has plenty of running power as well similar to Doig.

Thought Balde looked a class above, great awareness and won't be too far off the first team squad, Blaney playing alongside Daz at the back done well, he can certainly pick out a pass, Keith Wright's laddie Harry also done well when he came on late in the game.

Offence taken. I take it you don’t look at Scotlands pyramid system too often. Preston are literally leagues away from the Lowland League. If both Rangers and Celtics B team couldn’t win the Lowland last year then that in itself shows that the Lowland League is a good standard. They certainly didn’t get it their own way last year and I doubt Hibs would too.
