We are signing a lot of youngsters with no guarantee they will all come good. It just takes one though. That certain someone. That certain player.
Imagine sitting down a 19 year old and telling them they would be playing in front of 130,000 in one of the most iconic stadiums in the world (at the time).
The match would be the highlight of the sporting year in Great Britain. Millions would be tuned in at home and abroad.
There would be a slight problem for you though. You would not be playing for who you should really have been playing for. You would be playing for a team who were a world power and had future world cup winners but you didn't know much about them. You never played for them as a schoolboy. As a nation they found it strange a jock would be wearing that famous white shirt. In fact a big name at the time was very annoyed you would be getting a game ahead of him. Your opposition that day you knew very well. They spoke like you and you played against most of them every week. In that huge stadium the crowd would have been baying for your blood. Traitor. You would be the youngest player on the pitch.
