IFAB will bring it into the Laws of the game at a meeting tomorrow, making it available in any competition with the approval of the organisers.

Still only three opportunities (plus half time) to make those five subs though, so it won't affect the flow of the game.

It's the woke society gone mad. We need to return to the days when men were men: nae subs; if you're goalie had to go off, an outfield player had to go in net. You stay on unless you have a limb hanging off.

Really don`t get what having the opportunity to change pretty much half a team actually brings to the game.

Will suit the clubs with the biggest budgets and bigger squads.

Suits clubs with bigger budgets/stronger benches and makes fantasy football a bit harder. :greengrin

It will just as much benefit small squads with busy schedules. Subs can be for more than just making your team better for that one match .

I think this keeps squads happier, means more players can get game time

This.

If you want a strong squad who'll be competing for places, you need to keep them happy and give them game time, also saves on wear and tear during long seasons when your playing sometimes 2 games a week.

No negatives to this at all.

If you were down too long you'd be looking up at Tam McNiven and his magic sponge.

A sponge in ice cold water was always the remedy, no matter what the problem.

And leather footballs with LACES!! Heading one of them on a wet day nigh on guaranteed concussion.

Hopefully an opportunity for the youth to get more game time.

They now need to sort out the blood and concussion arrangements and allow temporary substitutions as in Rugby especially with head injuries so that a player can be properly assessed.

I'm not so sure.

Any time Maloney used his five subs it looked like the team lost all shape and players didn't know where they should be playing.

There should be no negatives but it's down to the efficiency of the manager.

I’m not sure we can really judge anything fairly based on Maloneys time at the club.

I like half this idea. So many players, including at least one of our own, go down holding their head just to stop a dangerous attack or disrupt the flow of the game. The referee absolutely should stop the game for a head injury but, to my mind, it should be mandatory fir the player to leave the pitch for a proper assessment and no temporary replacement. At least four or five mins.
The stop play requirement was brought in for very good safety reasons but the players that cry wolf are guilty of increasing that danger and it should be eradicated.
Perhaps even make the player that caused the injury with a high boot or flying elbow to leave the field for the same period of time. It might even stop some of these more dangerous plays

A clash of heads between two players of the same side could be treated a little more sympathetically.

Totally. Having 5 subs doesn’t mean you should use them though and I doubt most will.

That'll play havoc with our contract extensions based on appearances😉😉😉
