I'm a Leeds fan and Hibs lurker:

Surprised he's been let go to be honest. Always looked decent in the U23s and he definitely has promise despite not being one of our better youth players. I'd be amazed if he couldn't immediately make an impact here purely on the basis of how ''average'' (I say that as someone who's watched 3/4 games this season) Hibs midfield looks. Definitely a right type of signing and hopefully someone who in 3-4 years Hibs can move back down South for a real profit. Just seen on one of our forums that Leeds wanted to keep him but he's sought a move away to get first team minutes which is always a good indicator as he could've sat pretty on a good wage at a PL club.

This guy might turn out to be the real deal

However

These 19/20 year old type signings are where we went wrong last season and probably will sign another similar too I feel

Marshall is a big yes
Centre half’s needed
Midfielder x 2
2 x wingers
2 x centre forwards as I think doidge will go

After this season the board / recruitment team don’t have the time to wait for all these prospects to prosper

We need 15 senior pros ready to play the majority of the games with one or two younger boys being bled in gradual.

Prefer this kind of signing to that of a 25 year old midfielder with 100+ games under his belt for Carlisle United or a good old pro from Scotland like Liam Craig

I live in Leeds and one of my best mates, a Leeds fan and former season ticket holder, offered this on kenneh:
”Yeah he’s highly rated. Was touted as the replacement for Phillips if we sold him.Obviously young but he could be a player. Gutted we’ve let him go but they are now aggressively strengthening the squad (Leeds) so I assume they’ve told him game time will be limited.
Could be a very good signing that.
”Played for Shadwell before signing for Leeds. He was a refugee from some African war torn country and came over at a very early age and has done amazing. I hope that’s a sign Phillips is staying and he made the bench a few times this season but never made a senior appearance.”

If he can play a bit also then that could help Newell play a little more advance in central midfield.

I suspect as much. From the (little) I've seen of Newell/Doyle-Hayes they seem to play further forward than what Kenneh would do so it fills a problem area if Johnson is going to go with some form of 4-2-3-1/4-3-3.

Plus, it's a no risk signing. If he's good, you can shift him for profit. If he's ***** then I can't imagine he's going to be on a massive wage.

no, you’re right of course. He was probably trying to get me over excited. He went on to say:
”He was from Liberia, from reading his website personal statement some months back he seems like a decent bloke, good pro and I think he will be fine. Only issue would be he’s only been playing in the U23 side so the step up physically might be big so he might need some time.
”Made Bielsas bench a dozen time though so he must have seen something in him. Mostly when Phillips was injured and Forshaw was playing with Klich.”

Certainly seems to have a bit of potential .... but there's that word again. This club already has a number of players with 'potential' Doig has the potential to be a super wing back, Melkersen has the potential to be a super striker, Magennis has the potential to be great in midfield, Bushiri has the potential to be a decent centre half ( apparently ) Dylan Tait was signed for his potential.

Our first outfield signing since the season ended and it's more potential .... we seriously need to sign some proven talent or this club is going to 'potential' itself right into the Championship.

Now I have to admit that on the basis of that he looks like a really decent signing, hard in the tackle, a good passer and can score from time to time too. I'll go with the manager on this one, he could be a good player for us next season and a good bit of business to get sorted out early so he can get used to playing in a new environment. Liking the cut of this guy's jib in moving on in search of 1st team football rather than sitting in the reserves at a bigger club. It shows self belief and ambition. I’m too lazy to open that link but I think you are right.

There is a difference in the age that clubs are due compensation between Scotland and England. From memory, I think we got Clayton Donaldson as we never had to pay compensation where as English clubs would have. I can’t remember the age but something is saying there’s a significance it something around the age of 23? Cut off is definitely older than 19 though.

I'm all for giving young players a chance, but there has to be a balance. We can't keep signing youngsters unproven at this level and not supplement that with more experienced players who will help them on the pitch. I'm aware the window isn't even open yet so I'm not down on this signing as such, by all accounts Nohan Kenneh does have real promise, he wanted to come here when he could have stayed at Leeds which is a good sign. But we badly need some experience too. Marshall obviously falls into that category, but I'm talking about outfield players.

Look at the team who won the cup, you couldn't find a better mix with the likes of Cummings, Henderson and even McGinn supported by the likes of Fontaine, Gray, Fyvie and Stevenson.

Marshall, Hanlon, McGinn, Stevenson, Cadden, Nisbet, Newell, should be the players from the current team to lead by example, especially Nisbet with the young strikers since he almost dropped out of pro football completely and worked his way back.

The real issue is can the manager get this out of them, they have the experience to be offering to younger players but if that happens is really down to the manager and how he gets them all working together.

The only area we are missing real experience is midfield, Newell is older but I don't think he offers much in that respect.

As he would be good with both feet.

Pedant alert — ambidextrous is wrongly taken to be only good with both hands, when it actually refers to feet as well………… The word ambidextrous is familiar to most people: it describes somebody who is able to use both hands (and sometimes, in the case of soccer, feet) equally well.

Article about Kenneh from the Evening News below. I'm looking forward to seeing him play. Says he likes the physical side of the game, but just hope he doesn't get unfairly treated by our top-quality referees.

The 19-year-old made the switch to Easter Road earlier this summer after rejecting a contract offer to remain at Elland Road in favour of finding regular first-team football.

It’s a new adventure for Kenneh who has only known Leeds since his family came to the UK as Liberian refugees when the midfielder was just six years old.

Though he’s yet to play in a competitive top-flight fixture, having starred for Leeds’ under-23 side in the English development league, he reckons the style of football in the cinch Premiership suits him perfectly as he eagerly awaits battles with Hibs’ biggest rivals.

"The best thing for me was to come and play,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"I had a lot of offers, abroad as well, but in football terms Scotland is closer in style to England. I think physically and tactically I can get better.

"I'm really looking forward to the physicality. It's one of my attributes, I like to be physical. You want to test yourself against people stronger than you, that improves you as a player.

"This will be my first season, hopefully, in senior games. There could be big games – Rangers, Celtic, the Hearts derby game. That's amazing. Those games could only improve me.

"It wasn't daunting to leave home, it was just the right time to leave the family in a good spirit. It was time for me to become a man, learn how to cook, see how to live."

Love his attitude, I'm hoping he becomes a key player for us.

Likewise.

It’s funny it’s almost like he’s the forgotten man already I think, sort of along with miller as we’ve made signings since in McGeady, Tavares and Youan.

I think him and Miller are very exciting and can’t wait to see them play

Had a lengthy chat with him last week at Easter Road. Really nice, down to earth. He can’t wait for the season to start.

He’s not going to be a player who’ll ping balls from one end of the pitch to the other. But he’s going to get stuck right into the middle of the park and do a lot of dirty work

Also, fact fans, he was booked for Leeds without playing a game for them I believe!

I agree besides the ping balls around, I disagree there. Think you'll be pleasantly surprised at his passing ability. He's got some range on him

I'm exited about this one, just 19 years old and signed on a three year deal, and playing in an area of the pitch that we desperately need quality in, it could be a coup getting him in when we have.

Aye but he’s more or less untested in first team games where opponents will be at him.

I’m looking forward to seeing him play but he will need to adjust to a faster pace of game.

I think he should be one of the first names on the team sheet

In my experience of Amendoeira the hot buffet will be the same temperature as the cold buffet at breakfast

Didn't think we would have taken the ER kiosk catering team.
