Aye but wonderful pass that lead to the miss, he also laid on the first goal with a fine header back across for McGinn/Porto to stab at leading to our first goal. He will be a good player for us next year. I would worry if he was never in place to miss any chances.

:agree:

Well done James Scott for his hat trick today but we’ve had a season of nothing from him.

Jack’s public comment on his fitness levels was damning. You can’t have a player like that in the squad.

Melkerson will come good.

Wasn’t looking forward to today but glad I pulled on the big boy’s pants and went along. I’m still birling at Scott getting a hat trick but not complaining. Not sure what part of his anatomy the second went in off but it might have been his big boy’s pants, too :greengrin

He got MotM and I guess goals win prizes but for me it was Stevenson (again) :agree:

Darren had a very solid outing and Henderson had another match where you can see the technique and the intelligence, he just needs to be allowed to develop physically and I’m sure he’ll be alright and so will we.

Sad to think this might well have been the last time we might see Porto and Darren.

I hope we announce an appointment soon that gets bums on seats, STs sold and good recruitment targets identified. Apparently according to the guy in front of us today we’re getting some Dutch guy who seemingly was a decent player for Holland…Jean van Thomson :greengrin:greengrin

Dearie me…he was definitely old enough to remember the 2000s, too :greengrin

Im hoping for JDT. If nothing more than his song is totally class

I have had a dig or two at Joe Newell recently but thought he played well after a slow start, kept the ball moving and played a couple of nice diagonal passes.

He also looked to get forward much more and he got an assist for his effort also Lewis was his usual 7 out of 10.

Euan worked hard and was looking for the ball as much as he could.

First game I have enjoyed for a while. The build up was moving and despite a truly atrocious first half hour we woke up after that and played some good stuff. Lewis Stevenson is the best midfielder at Hibs by a margin imo. Clarke had another good game and I though Daz was solid too. James Scott has turned things round with some game time but he still doesn't look fit to me. Really enjoyed all the kids get there debut today and it is always nice to be there the first time future stars play their first game. Henderson had a bit of a shocker again, I think he gave the ball away cheaply in his first 6 involvements, and I don't think he will be a starter next year. Melkerson was lively in parts but I agree with others that a first half of the season loan would be a good idea. Newell was really disappointing again and although McGinn had a poor start he did well after that. The big difference today was having two strikers so our crosses in the box had a chance of finding someone, one even ended up a goal despite Scott not playing the ball. A blind man could see playing one up top with the players we had for the role was moronic and I hope that whoever fills the manager's role can see that you have to play a system that suits the players at your disposal. A wee bit of cheer at the end of the season was most welcome.

If he steers clear of injury I agree and I would have him at the base of the midfield in front of anyone else at the club currently. His energy levels come from his will as well as his legs. I thought he was tiring after an hour and I get the feeling he just wouldn't leave any energy on the park. He was and has been our best player when he has played imo and that is especially the case when he has been in midfield. I always wonder how Lewis would have got on at a bigger club because he has so many attributes and could really step up if he was surrounded by better players. I'm so glad he is a one club professional though and I hope it stays that way

This is what will happen: the new manager won't rate him and will drop him. It will quickly become apparent that in actual fact he's necessary, and will reinstate him, like the previous 46 managers. This pattern is going to repeat ad infinitum, long after we're all dead and gone. Mon the Lewy :not worth
