I know the story is a few days old, but I hadn't seen the details of what was actually being said/laughed at:

https://news.stv.tv/sport/sports-broadcaster-eilidh-barbour-feels-deep-disappointment-at-jokes-made-at-football-awards-event

I find it mind-boggling that this sort of guff (which was never even funny in the days it was 'acceptable') still sees the light of day.

Couple that with today's £1m payout by Police Scotland over sexism in the force and it's clear that plenty of males in this country don't cover themselves in glory when it comes to moving on from the Stone Age:

I'm glad you shared that as I was wondering what exactly was said as well.

These "jokes" might have raised a chortle from a pished up smoker crowd in 1981. Quite astonishing that he thought this would be appropriate.

There were plenty of those there who found the jokes funny according to Barbour. Two tables decided to walk out but she said many of those who stayed were laughing loudly.

In my experience you don't actually have to go back to the 80s to find such 'humour'. I recall being in hospitality at Euro 96 and the sexist and racist jokes from the after-meal speaker were generally well received. The Hands-on Hibs night at the Usher Hall in the 90s also featured a comedian (whose name escapes me) who threw in some similar jokes. However, things have moved on at such a pace over the last 5-10 years that anyone still thinking this is the right tone to strike is scarily out of touch.

Yeah so depressing.
