500 appearances for the club he supports. An outstanding achievement for a superb professional.

Made all the more impressive when you consider David Gray said he's currently playing through an injury that requires an operation. That block saved an almost certain goal.

Congratulations to him. Wasn’t aware of an operation being required, it’s going to be a busy summer window 🤞🏻

Future hall of famer. The fact he’s playing through an injury sums him up. The stick he’s taken at times is a disgrace but we’re a better club for having him as captain.

Agree. Disappointing how as a legend he is often treated on here. With 500 appearances on the day you'd think he would also get a bit more press attention. Team line up pic of Melkersen rather than Hanlon seemed odd.
Congrats Paul. One of our own.

Great achievement, but these games are meaningless, let him get his operation now and rest up, so he's fit for the start kr next season.

Congratulations to Paul Hanlon, he’s achieved something only matched by a handful of Hibs players.

A dedicated and loyal professional who will always be remembered for what he’s done for the club. I’ll always be grateful, thank you, thank you :hibees

think he should have had a guard of honour from his team mates as he came out of the tunnel. Not many players get to 500 appearances for the same club. Well done to him

Would have been a nice touch that - I suspect he wouldn’t want that type of fuss :).

I can only imagine that he didn't want too much of a fuss made about it. Seems quite a humble guy, much like Lewis when he got to 500.

That would be my take. Guard of honours are for testimonials and retiring or departing after long service.

Congratulations to Paul Hanlon

I remember his Mum and Dad sitting in the Busy Bee on a Saturday night deep in Jambo territory

Who knew that their son would go on to be Captain of Hibs never mind make 500 first team appearances

A really nice humble guy totally committed professional and excellent role model

He has been playing through the injury since the first Hearts game, you could tell yesterday twisting and turning was difficult for him. Hopefully back fit and well for the start of next season.

Ridiculous really. Maybe a case for Hearts but absolutely not now.

What goes through the head of these people is unfathomable.

Hibs post congratulations to Hanlon. This is followed by a whole range of disrespectful comments from “make it your last one” to far worse.

Its okay to not rate a player. We all have opinions on the folk who pull on the jersey. But what sort of impact do folk think directly tweeting or posting on player or club feeds insults has? It’s basic rudeness at best and counterproductive and ignorant in the main. Those idiots will likely belt out 2 nil down at Tyne without a shred of self awareness. If you’ve nowt good to say on occasions like this one….say nothing. It’s not difficult being a decent human being.

It’s a sad reflection on modern day that ..social media seems to have created these people who shout abuse through their virtual identities in a way they would never face to face. So disrespectful..

We’ve a bit of a problem with these types, I don’t search out other teams on twitter but I’d be very surprised if any other club has the amount of ‘fans’ so toxic to everything that the club puts out.

I hope a new manager for example doesn’t think to search out Hibs across social media platforms

I think the no holds barred content in the likes of some Hibs Facebook groups breeds and emboldens the behaviours. I avoid them like the plague as they’re a shambles on a number of levels.
