Confirmation today from the SPFL that next season's Premier Sports Cup will have no regionalisation in the group stages and the 40 teams (37 teams in the SPFL who didn't qualify for Europe in 2021/22 plus Fraserburgh as the Highland League winners, Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic as the Lowland League winners and Buckie Thistle as the Highland League runners-up since the Lowland League runners-up were given a place this season) will be split into 8 groups of 5 based on seedings.

Group stage draw is being held on 25th May at 1pm on the Freesports Channel.

Group stage dates are;

MD1: Weekend of July 9/10, 2022
MD2: Midweek of July 12/13, 2022
MD3: Weekend of July 16/17, 2022
MD4: Midweek of July 19/20, 2022
MD5: Weekend of July 23/24, 2022

Due to the World Cup being held in November and December, the semi finals will be held on the weekend of January 14/15, 2023 and the final will be on Sunday February 26, 2023.

It's frightening that we are 8 weeks away from Matchday 1 with no manager and a major squad upheaval still to go.

I'm still looking forward to this season ending, never mind the next one starting

Why am I allowing myself to still be so angry about us being in the position of having to play these matches in the first place.

Exactly. We should be playing pish teams from Gibraltar, Andorra or Lichtenstein instead of pish teams from Scotland.

Nice to see they’ve ditched the regionalisation so hopefully we get a couple of nice central belt away games. Or Annan as I’ve never been.

I’d also just say that I think all the teams below pot 2 are just in one big pot all together.

So we could get something like:
Dunfermline
Buckie
Bonnyrigg
Albion Rovers

We’ll be at home to the pot 2 team and one of the unseeded teams.
