Again asked to pick up the pieces and prepare the team. As usual didn't let us down. First league win since mid February. First away league win since December. Wasn't pretty but that's how it's done.

Yep, well done.
Sensible team selection, found a way to get a team really lacking in inspiration a win.
I quite like his style and every team he's picked as caretaker I've understood the logic.
Decent subs at decent times.
A good day's work, allowing for how little he had to work with when it comes to putting together a swashbuckling attacking football machine.
I also thought he spoke well before and after the game.

Very, very tough to turn a team in that sort of form around and the longer the winless run went on for, the more difficult it would be.
Impressive leadership, good team selection, good substitutions and although a pretty awful game of football, we found a way to get the goal. That's what counted today and it will be much easier to approach the next game as a result.

Aye credit where it's due.
Be crazy to go from the past six or so months and expect a complete turn around. Got the win we desperately needed and we're realistically safe now.

TBH, it was a pretty awful game but you can't really blame Gray for that.
He's been lumbered with a team of poor quality, with a number of decent players either injured or suspended and with a certain style of play engrained in them (you could see a lot of the passing from wing-to-wing, which seems to be Maloney inspired).
I'm just glad we could actually hang on at the end for the win.

And the steady hand of Eddie May, well respected behind the scenes

Was a game played like a friendly at times, maybe due to the weather and pacing themselves in the sun (I’ll be generous)
The defence were the strongest performers - thought McGinn did well as did Paul and Lewis. Harry Clarke took a bit of time to adjust to being RWB when Cadds went off. Melkerson worked his socks off second half and showed some real tenacity in a controlled manner. His striking partner didn’t look fit…
Darren was helping out too although was bizarrely on the team lines despite being injured. He drilled Paul, Paul and Lewis in defending aerial balls prior to kick off. Obviously in preparation for Curtis Main :greengrin
Well done SDG. Let’s have some fun now, Hibs. See if we can make the likes of Aberdeen have some squeaky bum time :greengrin

Daz wasn’t listed as a sub was he? Saw him on the field at the end, presumed he was part of todays coaching staff after 4 left this week
It was really really windy today, sunny but not ideal conditions for a game

Darren was announced as the last sub on the tannoy by the announcer reading the team lines. But obviously was never going to be involved and took half the warm up

Twice he’s been lumbered with the task and again he doesn’t let us down.
I salute his indefatigability

We are in good hands until we get the manager in. Legend. I'm actually pretty comfortable with the situation.

The team played better last Saturday than it did today.

Indeed, well done to SDG and his staff; we really needed that today. The win makes the world of difference.

Never been as comfortable with a caretaker as I am just now. It's weird, but I get an immense sense of pride seeing SDG represent the club as a caretaker. He's just Hibs to the bone and all class

Exactly how I feel. As comfortable with him as caretaker as I was when he was in the starting lineup but weirdly don't want him as manager. 100% want him as part of the set up though.

Pretty much where I am as well, although I do wonder if we had an experienced DOF and assistant could he do it?

I would take SDG with Strachan as assistant. That could work, IMHO.

I've never and don't think I will ever understand the clamour of folk wanting Collin's back.
Since he left Hibs what, 15 years ago what's he done in football? Absolutely nothing.

Thank you for stepping up Sir David - not an easy task at all over two spells and three good wins overall with a great score line to sign off your caretaker stint.

I wish he'd gone with a tactical formation more like today's in our last couple of games when I thought he was overly and unnecessarily pragmatic.
We were better for having 2 strikers on there with Henderson in behind and I'd take a bit of convincing that Lewis Stevenson isn't the best midfielder at the club so he should have been playing there every week of late.
Mixed bag for Gray for me post split but I like him as a manager. Speaks well and I favour his selections and tactics more often than I don't.

Most important game was the 1-0 v St Mirren. Got the job done.

Would be no complaints from me if sdg was given a chance. i reckon most of the fans would be behind him and while i can get that some dont want to see his reputation tarnished if things didnt work out thats a risk that he himself will be aware of im sure. One thing id be hopeful of is that he wouldnt be using us as a stepping stone and id imagine that if we got off to a good start next season with him at the helm then the fans would attend. Young and ambitious with our clubs interest at heart not sure we could attract a better candidate.

Hibs averaged 1.18pts per game this season
SDG average 2.14, although admittedly in the bottom 6
