I finish up work for 7 weeks on 29th June. Looking at the dates for the League Cup I hope we can squeeze in a couple of pre-season friendlies. Hopefully start to look forward to the new season in due course.

Think a free friendly for season ticketholders was mentioned. With 5 - team groups we`ll be free on one of the 5 group dates . Still got to finish this season without any worries .

The League Cup starts on 9th July next season which is the same weekend as it started this season.

You get a ticket for the pre-season friendly on 24th July thrown in as part of your season ticket if you buy before 31st May.

Not sure what happens if we have a League Cup tie on 24th July.

Sorry just realised you might have been asking is it not the 28th July for the friendly? Thought were asking about when the League Cup started.

No it's 24th July.

Not too sure what's being referred to on this page but I think I may have wrongly assumed that the poster was asking about when the League Cup started this season.

I think the poster was asking about when the free friendly was being played and that is on 24th July so still not sure what happens to that if we have a League Cup match that day.

Then they would probably just give a free ticket to a pre season game on a different date?

Maybe as a seeded team we can choose which day in groups we don`t play so would be free for a friendly on 24th . Seems unlikely .

Yes probably I was just confused as to why they would have specifically said we would be playing a friendly on that date.

Probably because they thought we’d be in Europe the Thursday before

Maybe, but let's not rule out incompetence. Not unusual at Hibs these days.

Do you think we will have some friendlies before the league cup starts? I have he fear that we use the group games as ‘pre-season’ and make an arse of it.

IMO, we need to use the League Cup to get our first team playing and functioning together. We can arrange other friendlies around that to get other folk the minutes they need.

Remember under Hecky a few years ago he spoke about using the League Cup as pre season. The team changed massively in every game. We won the group so no problem in that respect but by the time the League came round, we hadn’t actually done anything to mould any kind of team together.

I'm at a loss to understand how any premiership club can actually be making money from the group stages of this competition, I doubt our crowds in the home matches were enough to even cover expenses never mind make a profit. It's probably not bad for the smaller clubs who might get a visit from a thousand or so away fans from Hibs or Aberdeen who fancy a nice wee summer day trip to the sticks as it were, but that's about it from a financial POV.

One thing is for sure, if there is ever to be any hope of expanding the premiership this nonsense will have to go.

Favourable draw ( in terms of attractive fixtures for fans ) could make a difference especially with sensible pricing . Hibs playing away to Dunfermline for example could mean a big Hibs support . Hopefully club come up with ideas ( which opponents agree with ) to boost crowds . Not sure how gates are split in LC group games .

Wonder if we’ll be in the Southern section for a change, as the seeds will probably be depending on who gets Europe
A few more Northern based teams will be seeded

A few more Northern based teams will be seededAberdeen and Dundee definitely north . Then 2 of Ross County (if 6th), Dundee United (if 6th) and St Johnstone . If Motherwell are 6th we could be in North .
