View Full Version : Would we have won that if we had no injuries?

The old saying if ifs and buts....

However do you believe if we had a fit Nisbet, Magennis, Doidge etc, do you believe we would have won that ?

If you also ask the question if we’d win it if they also had no injuries then that’s more interesting for me.

The answer would be no.

Maybe. But one has to recognise that Hearts had injuries too - most notably Beningame who I and told is decent.

I think we should also be fair and say they picked up a couple of injuries in the game.

That said, we lack a connection between midfield and attack. Hayes, Campbell and Newell offer nothing in the attacking sense. Magennis may have offered something there

I genuinely think we'd have won the game if Newell stays on the park. I just felt a goal was coming and if we'd got a leveller we'd have gone on to win it.

All irrelevant now of course.

We`d have had a better chance even if Hearts had been full strength . Despite horrendous injury list one more goal against Dundee United would have us 4th and we were very unlucky today .
With just normal injury list all season I think we`d have been challenging for 3rd . Positive is that injuries have meant younger players have had a chance and next season could be a good one .

Who knows
But i think ,even without the players you mention, we could have forced extra time,or maybe won if 11 players had remained on the park.
The 10 we had put in a good performance and unfortunate not to get a draw in regular time, imo.
With your additions,am sure we would have won today.
Robbie Replay got lucky today.
And going by his post match interview,he knows that.
So no airplanes this week for Neilson. Back in the hanger for now.
The jambos have short memories.
Its the first season since The Cheating Years they have really had the upper hand on us.

The Glasgow Greens will hammer them in the final.

Crap excuse. They had two of their best players missing and had to take three of injured.

Both have long injury lists, so who knows. You can only play what's in front of you.

No. As a whole they have a better squad. If both Teams have everyone available at their best then they still edge it. They're much better up front.

Reading other replies here about them also having injuries.
Yes they did pre match, and also during the game.
On what was available today,a rash decision by Newell changed it.
He will know that now,of course.
But still,we could have went on to draw or win.
All teams get players injured.
We have suffered possibly more than most teams with injuries to key players.

In hindsight, the sending off that changed our season was Ryan's dismissal at Ibrox.
It illustrated how crucial a red card can be for a team (us)not just in the game in question.
Then the injury catalogue.Long term for some players.
We have had a rotten season, but i want Shaun to get the opportunity of better selection when he has all players(and more) available next term

Probably not, no.

Probably not, as they usually find a way to beat us when it really matters. We actually played well today, even with ten men, but it's still the same old feeling at the end.

yeah, getting pretty sick of hard luck stories.

we play badly we get pumped. We play well we lose by the odd goal.

when we’re playing them everything goes against us. They ping a couple of long range shots into the net that would go into the stands 9 times out of 10. Gordon pulls off an impossible stop that then bounces off the post into his hands. If that had been at our end and the keeper had stopped it it would have then bounced in off the post.

and then there’s that arse Newell

ffs.

ah well, for the third time in four seasons I’m gonna have to hold my nose and support an old firm team against them in the Final.

We always find an excuse for losing. 🙄

Yep, totally agree with all that. Still, it'll be interesting to see how Gordon et all perform in the timewasting/falling to the ground as if shot crap when VAR comes in. Let's hope it really does make a difference, and not just for teams playing against the OF.

No, not when we are relying on the same old experienced players who have experienced failure after failure after failure in derbies especially derbies at Hampden.

They still would have scored 2 belters from outside the box injury’s or not

They were missing souttar, baningime and devlin wasn’t fit to play. We also managed to injure 3 of their players so that had a makeshift defence and all we could must was one header.

Let’s not get all high and mighty. Porto is a master of falling down clutching his face, then you see the replay and it goes nowhere near his face!!

We would have finished top six, likely qualified for Europe, and given Hearts a sterner test, if we'd addressed the issues of a central midfielder, and an experienced centre forward, in either of the two windows this season.

As usual though, we didn't. We ****ed around with the usual sub standard loans that I associate with Hibs each year, trying to plug holes and glaring indeficiencies on the cheap.

The failures of the past week run deeper than our injury list and the 180 minutes on show.
