If maloney had a full squad, who do we think he would select. Pretty clear it would be 3-4-3

I am thinking the keeper could be either of Mackey or dabrowski

Back three of porteous, hanlon and doig

Middle four of Clarke, JDH, newell and Mitchell

Front three of jasper, nisbet and either cadden or mueller.

I struggle to see a role for magennis in there but would like a space for him

I think Doig is better at CH but it would be folly not to use him at LWB when Hanlon is available.

The great thing is the more players available the more tweaks you can make which is sometimes better than trying to choose a first XI.

Decent back 3 but I expect Porto will need replaced over the summer.

Middle 2 I’m not sure about.

Not much between Doig and Mitchell.

Jasper I like but I don’t think he really fits into this formation.

We need a striker who can play up front on his own.


I don’t really like the formation or Maloneyball in general but it will be interesting to see if it gets any easier on the eye or effective if he gets backed to fix the problems in the final third. I reckon we’ve got a few high profile, big wages in there though who just aren’t going to cut it and it will be interesting to see how they might be moved on in order to make space.
