The turnout is never great really for these I'm comparison to Holyrood or WM Elections. Are you going to vote? If so what will motivate your choices - local issues can sometimes be quite removed from bigger national ones. State of the roads? Refuse and recycling? Places for people infrastructure?
If you're not voting is it disinterest, being disaffected or something else?

I probably will vote however I’m not satisfied with any of the available party’s whatsoever at the moment at a national level. Also not happy with the way things are being run locally so I guess I’ll see who’s in power at the moment and vote for someone else. Probably an independent if the option is there and they aren’t a nutter.

No idea. I vote snp in scot and uk elections as a vehicle for independence, same with greens who have many awful policies for second vote. But no idea for local election as they are all hopeless unfortunately

Don’t know if I’ll bother tbh.
I’ve had one leaflet so far and that had precious little on it. I can even remember if it was Lib Dems or tories that it came from. Tories I think.
I would like to know more about the ticket they are all standing on before making my choice.

In an ideal world party politics wouldn't apply to local elections. National factors should be irrelevant. It should just be a debate between candidates about how they want to apply the council's funding to address local issues.
It'll not surprise anyone that I'll be voting SNP, but I'd rather be voting Punter A or Punter B.

The thought actually occurred to me recently that all politics would be much better if it was entirely non partisan and if individual MPs voted on every issue without any loyalty to other MPs or party pressure, and instead just done what they genuinely thought was for the best. No point scoring or shooting down a good idea because a rival party thought of it.
There are very few examples of this working in modern history but I really am sick of all our major party’s, and a look around the world suggests that I would feel the same at living in most nations.

I think one thing is for certain is that politics in Scotland is way too polarised due to views on Independence.
You never really hear any MSPs speaking out against their party policies which simply can't be healthy. We need people in authority to challenge our leaders, even if that's within their own party.

I use my vote every time, I personally think voting should be compulsory by law, and every ballot paper should have a "none of the above" option to avoid spoilt ballot papers and people who have no interest. I vote differently in local elections as I vote for who I think will do the best job for my district regardless of party. In Holyrood and WM elections I vote tactically and for who I want to run the country. I believe in a truly democratic system, fully PR, not PR light like Holyrood or even worst First past the post like WM. We might get there one day!
