Anyone know what the new, temporary looking, cameras on the bypass are watching for? They're on bridges and on the slip roads.

Don't seem to be speed ones anyway:

It's not those ones either. They look temporary and they're not high up.

Noticed one the other day there, but can’t remember where exactly lol, but must’ve been either bypass or A1.
I assumed at the time they were ANPR cameras, but just a guess.

Noticed a couple of them last night on a couple of the overpasses.
Assumed it was just some traffic monitoring equipment to capture data on the road use.

Was on the road from the roundabout at the Old Forth Road bridge, to the one at the new bridge (Queensferry side), 2 or 3 police standing with speed guns, hiding in the side street. It’s a 40 mph zone

There is one at Sheriffhall looking south to Dalkeith, done yesterday.
I thought it might be to count traffic ahead of a fly over but maybe not.

Anything to do with this? The article mentions Edinburgh as well...

They look temporary so maybe some sort of trial.

Just do 30mph over the speed limit as you pass one. You'll soon find out.

Yeah these cameras going up all down the M8 (the stretch where I live, Glasgow Airport into city centre) literally thousands could get caught out as here on a daily basis what with multiple junctions, various speed changes and just general careless driving where motorways merge/ split at the M77/ M74

Cycled passed one on my way to the pentlands. ANPR camera's, assuming for congestion, traffic volume and data logging etc.

My guess would be to check cars are road taxed
